AREA C - MOUNT GOLDSWORTHY IRON ORE OPERATIONS EXTENSION PROJECT - RESOURCE
Currently at the Construction stage In East Pilbara is a project estimated to be $ 420000000. This project Total resource body is estimated at 2.2 million tonnes. Ore production is to remain at 8.5 Mtpa. Proposal for the expansion are the mining of three new and existing areas. At the new Cattle Gorge area mining approx 11 Mt of ore and 12 Mt of low grade ore/overburden. In the new Nimingarra hard rock mining area of approx 1mt of ore and 7.3 Mt of low grade ore/overburden. QSN LINK GAS PIPELINE

The QSN Link pipeline will extend south-west from the Ballera Gas facility in Queensland. It will pass approximately 7km to the south of Innamincka in South Australia and terminate at the Moomba plant. The pipeline will be some 180km in length, with approximately 90km in Queensland and 91.5km in South Australia. The pipeline will be typical of a modern, small to medium diameter gas transmission pipeline. Final design parameters are yet to be determined, but it is likely to involve the following infrastructure: a buried, high pressure, steel, natural gas pipeline, with a diameter in the order of 400mm, an inlet station at Ballera, above ground facilities at intervals along the pipeline include a mid-line mainline valve, cathodic protection systems and marker signs and an outlet delivery station at Moomba. The construction workforce will be accommodated in temporary camps and at local accommodation. two preliminary campsite locations have been selected which will accommodate a single camp that will be mobilised from one location to the other during the construction phase of the project. construction depots will be used primarily for equipment storage and will typically be co-located with the construction camps. Facilities and equipment stored at the construction depots may include: site office and administration centre, construction vehicles, diesel fuel and lubricants, vehicle maintenance equipment, sand bags, sediment fencing, star droppers and wooden stakes and pipe wrapping and joint coating materials. When the utility is no longer required, the pipeline will be decommissioned in accordance with the regulatory requirements and accepted environmental best practices at the time. currently decommissioning procedures require the removal of all above ground infrastructure and the restoration of associated disturbed areas. ROY HILL IRON ORE PROJECT - INFRASTRUCTURE - NORTHERN RAIL
Mining - Support Facilities (Accommodation - units, housing, group accom.) project In The Port Hedland Council Area of Private ownership. It is proposed to develop a railway of approximately 320km to transport iron ore from the Roy Hill 1 mine to facilities at Port Hedland and the proposed Boodarie multiuser stockyard area which is to be vested in the PHPA (Port Hedland Port Authority). The railway proposal includes: a marshalling yard (with associated workshops and maintenance facilities storage and laydown areas, rail welding yard), passing loops and sidings, construction water bores and 'turkeys nest' dams, borrow and ballast areas for construction material, communications cable, towers and signalling system, construciton works accommodation camps and amenities for workers, access roads and construction power supplies. Five train sets will be required to transport 55 Mtpa, with each train consisting of two diesel electric locomotives and 232 iron ore wagons. When spares are included, this will entail a fleet of 17 locomotives and 1790 wagons. Fuel supply trains will require one additional AC locomotive and 12 tanker cars. An unsealed, at-grade access road will run adjacent to and generally parallel to the proposed railway for its entire length, for the purposes of railway access and maintenance. The road pavement width will be approximately 9m wide. Seven sidings are expected to be required along the entire length of the railway to allow trains travelling in opposite directions to pass. Additional sidings called "back-tracks" will be provided on the back to eh passing sidings along the alignment as required to allow removal of 'bad-order' wagons (mechanical fault). Road crossings will be at grade or grade separated in accordance with the requirements of Main Roads of Western Australia. Level crossings on access roads will be protected with signs that comply with this standard. To preserve current land uses in a way that is compatible with the proposed railway, fencing and/or controls will need to be installed at occupational rail crossings, vehicle the paths, livestock grids and in other areas where access requires controlling or restricting. Watercourses crossings will consist of culverts or bridges. Culverts will be used in preference to bridges. For bridges, to provide a simple and efficient method of construction, the design of the rail bridges will be standardised for fast construction requiring a minimum quantity of in situ concrete. The span length proposed is 25m. The construction methodology will be to at 25m intervals drive circular steel pier columns as a "trestle" consisting of three members with the two outer members raking and the central pier column vertical. A heavy hardstand granular pavement is required for installation of piled substructure over the full length of each bridge primarily to provide safe, stable access for heavy plant and equipment. The width of the hardstand on both the upstream and downstream sides of the piers will be approximately 20m, ie a total fo 40m wide. Hardstand will remain in service until superstructure units are placed by heavy cranage. Prefabricated steel headstocks will be lifted into place by a crane and site welded to the pier columns. Decks will consist of prefabricated composite girders or steel through girder construction. The marshalling yard will be adjacent to the main line and will incorporate 10 rail tracks. The site is expected to accommodate a rolling-stock workshop and washdown bay, locomotive provisioning hall, rail infrastructure yard, diesel fuel storage, electrical substation, communications tower, administration building, car parks, potable and wastewater treatment units and fire-water storage and access roads.
