Details
  • Construction of new Broadway Building on the UTS Broadway site.
  • Demolition of Buildings 11, 12 & 13.
  • Construction of a new 12 storey building GFA 32,500sq m for to accommodate the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.
  • The Broadway Building will connect at ground & at several levels above with the existing UTS Building 10 to provide an integrated teaching environment.
  • The design incorporates an architectural feature in the form of tilted & angled perforated anodized aluminum screens which clad & rise above the 4 facades of the building.
  • The screens enable the building to read as a single sculptural object with the floor levels veiled within its skin.
  • The Broadway facade has the name UTS embedded in the screen as a flashing LED light.
  • The building includes a substantial atrium at the ground levels & voids above criss-crossed with stairs & ramps linking the upper levels; through-site pedestrian connections between Jones St, Wattle St & Broadway; space for student union facilities and a cafe.
  • The Broadway Building is to achieve a high standard of environmental performance & is targeting a 5 star Green Star Education v1 design rating, the design incorporates numerous energy efficiency measures including a gas fired trigeneration system & water sensitive urban design.
  • Double glazed curtain wall system with high performance glass, single glazed spandrels, composite aluminium spandrels, corner shingle glazing: grey laminated glass with metalic paint finish for structural members, low iron clear glass bridge links, laneway glazed roof: high performance clear glass, prefinished aluminium louvres, binary screen: perforated aluminium with anodised charcoal finish, covered walkway: exposed concrete to foorpath soffit, shopfront glazing: low iron clear glass to aluminium mullions with metallic paint finish, entry doors: clear glazed double sliding doors to each entry, crevasse skylight: clear double glazed with projecting metal sunshades, colorbond metal deck roofing.
  • Carparking for 160 vehicles over 3 basement levels.
  • The development includes modifications to the Building 10 car park to accommodate bicycle facilities for, & vehicle access to the Broadway Building, & bridge access between the 2 buildings.
