Construction of a pedestrian link across Drakeford Drive to provide a safer means for students to access the new Kambah P-10 School - Namadgi, as well as improved links for other pedestrians & cyclists.
- Eastern approach comprises 3.0m wide concrete paths connect to the existing concrete paths in the eastern approaches.
- Western spiral approach spans of the proposed bridge connect to a concrete path supported on a retaining wall that curves around an existing mound.
- The retaining wall to have a mortared stone finish.
- At the point were the wall matches the existing surface level a concrete path is extended at existing surface level to connect to the existing 2.0m wide concrete path behind the school The bridgeworks comprise 2 elements, the main cabletayed bridge structure over Drakeford Drive & the ramp structure on the east side of the crossing.
- The cable stayed bridge comprises a single steel portal framed type pylon with 6 pairs of stay cables supporting the bridge deck.
- The bridge deck consist of a trapezoidal shape steel ttrough section that acts compositely with the reinforced concrete decks slab on top.
- The stay cables are set in a radial shaped arrangement whereby all the cables are connected to the top of the pylon.
- The approach ramp structure comprises of 7 spans of approximately equal length of up to approximately 11m.
- The ramp is curved structure & comprises a cast in -situ reinforced concrete deck having a similar cross-sectional profile to that of the main cable stayed bridge.
- A transition pier is provide at the interface between the cable stayed bridge & the ramp structure.
- As an alternative to pedestrians using the ramp provision has been made in the design for a stair structure.
- The colours proposed for the bridge complement the school colour scheme,with greys, blacks & silvers, & the nominated orange together with the deep red used at the school will provide an important landmark within the area.
- Main steel girder, cable anchor beams, pedestrian fence posts & Securemax Mesh, Anitprojectile screen posts, galvanised handrails, galvanised stay cables, Anti Graffiti coating on exposed concrete.
