Details
  • Alterations & additions to the Birkenhead Point Shopping Centre to create: 1 additional floor level; increase overall FSR to 1.85:1; internal alterations to shopping area & existing uses; alterations to existing loading/servicing facilities; extension of deck area above waterfront promenade; roofing over existing Fleet St, Little Rowe St & Flinders Ln; glazing enclosure of waterfront decks along promenade; & construction of a multi-level "glazed drum" feature to connect Buildings K & L.
  • The proposal is for the upgrade of the existing factory outlet centre/commercial development into a first Class Shopping Centre.
  • The development is proposed to be undertaken as a 6 stage operation and the extent of work involved in the development includes: alterations to increase the total retail gross floor space by 5,092sq m, plus 787sq m achieving an overall FSR of 1.85:1; upgrading of existing facilities within the centre to provide improved pedestrian movement throughout the Centre; reconfiguration of the promenade (waterfront) level in Block ?L? to create new entry lobby and conversion of the existing maritime uses to restaurants; relocation of the maritime uses to lower level Block ?K?; reconfiguration of existing floor space in Block ?L? to provide expanded food court, extensive fresh food precinct, improved pedestrian circulation linking to other parts of the centre, extension of outdoor deck off food court, regrading and resurfacing of Lower Rowe St (gap between Building ?L? & ?K?); improving accessibility through introduction of elevators, escalators; & travelators and stair connections between all levels; introduction of additional mall area within Block ?D? (behind Block ?K?) & conversion of the uses to mainly retail activities; replacement of the roof over Lower Rowe St with a new glazed roof; introduction of a glazed ?Drum? connection between Buildings ?K? & ?L?, glazed roof over Fleet St & a partial roof over Flinders Lane; provision of an additional floor level/floor space in Block ?L? to blend with the higher level of Block ?K?; new roundabout at the southern end of Roseby St to provide access to the existing service bay; & new paved outdoor seating areas associated with the restaurant areas at Promenade and Ground Levels.
