MACARTHUR RAILWAY STATION UPGRADE & INTERCHANGE PROJECT
Railway Station - Upgrade project at Menangle Rd, Campbelltown, NSW 2560 In The Council Area Of Campbelltown of State. The proposal is for a number of integrated works to improve the amenity and service of public transport in and around Macarthur Station. Key elements of the project include: conversion of the existing side platform to a new island (and fourth) platform at Macarthur Station, including approximately 1.1km of new rail track and creation of a new turnback line; bus/rail interchange adjacent to Macarthur Station along the northern side of Menangle Rd. Works also include minor modifications to existing bus bays on the south side of Menangle Road and installation of canopies, seating, lighting and CCTV; easy access and station upgrade including the installation of lifts and amenity improvements for passengers and staff accessing Macarthur Station. The Proposal comprises the following components: conversion of the existing Down Main track into a dead end Turnback line including partial removal of track at the country side of Macarthur Station and installation of a buffer stop; installation of lifts from the overhead concourse to the platforms; easy access modifications and reconfiguration of the aerial concourse including the provision of a family accessible toilet; easy access modification and refurbishment of the existing pedestrian overpass across Menangle Road; easy access modifications to the station including provision of level access; conversion of the existing side platform to a new island (and fourth) platform; the construction of approximately 1.1km of new rail track (new Down Main) and associated rail infrastructure; provision of an access road along the new Down Main, including modification of two access locations to the rail corridor along Menangle Road; provision of a maintenance access layover bay along Menangle Road adjacent to Bugden Place for vehicular access to the rail corridor; modification and construction of new drainage structures, train signals, overhead wiring and other utilities; construction of retaining walls parallel to Menangle Road (where required); construction of deflection wall structures at Gilchrist Drive Bridge and the pedestrian overpass at Macarthur Station; installation of train driver?s facilities on the platforms; widening of Menangle Road in the eastbound direction to provide two lanes with; an on-road cycle lane; modification of the median strip, line marking and extension of the pedestrian fence along Menangle Road; provision of a right turn lane into Bolger Street from Menangle Road; construction of 11 kiss and ride car spaces, 4 bus bays, a taxi zone and disabled; drop-off space along the eastbound side of Menangle Road adjacent to the station; provision of stairs and lift access to the bus/rail interchange; modification to the kerb alignment of Menangle Road in the westbound direction to increase the length of the bus bay; construction of bus shelters and furniture on both sides of Menangle Road; modification and upgrading of electrical and communications systems; landscaping between the rail corridor and the bus/rail interchange; operation of a site compound adjacent to Menangle Road for the duration of the construction works.
