Rail Line New project In The Bankstown Council Area. Overall Project - Proposes construction of a dedicated single line freight rail line along the corridor of the main south line track for a distance of 30 kilometres. The SSFL will provide a third bi directional track for freight services, which would allow passengers and freight services to operate independently. The new non-electrified track, 30km in length, within a 36km railway corridor, would be located on the western side of the existing RailCorp passenger lines between Macarthur and the junction with the East Hills Line at Glenfield. At Glenfield it would cross over via a new grade-separated interchange, known as the Glenfield flyover, and continue through to Sefton on the eastern and southern side of the passenger lines. This will require construction and/or modification of road and rail bridges, retaining walls and embankments.
