AUSTRALIAN SECURITY INTELLIGENCE ORGANISATION
New project of Commercial Premises (Offices) project at Secn 49 Part Secn 80 (Russell Security Precinct), Parkes, ACT 2600. Construction of an A grade quality commercial building of 5 storeys for 1800 people. The building is to be constructed over a stepped podium & will have an attached entrance pavilion off Constitution Avenue. The southern face will be gently curved in plan to face towards the centre of the Parliamentary Triangle & generally relates to the curve of Parkes Way. The proposed cladding materials will comprise of glass curtain wall-type systems for major facades which are essentially clear & non-reflective, including pre-cast concrete panels in light colour tones similar to other buildings within the Central National Area. Some feature elements of darker concrete panels/timber may be introduced into the final detailed building design. Roofing material will be metal, including louvred elements to roof mounted plant rooms. Parapet facade walls will largely obscure the roofing in views for constitution Avenue & Parkes Way. A major glazed elevation will face the Lake & the Parliamentary Triangle, providing an enjoyable outlook for the occupants of the building. ESD principles that are being explored are: Solar panels on the roof to generate electricity. Air conditioning underfloor displacement system. Stormwater from the roof to be harvested in submerged tanks & will be used for irrigation. The glass facade to have automated external sun shades. Recycling of waster matter.. A structured carpark will be developed within an excavated area to the south of the building & will comprise 2-3 levels below the existing natural ground level of the site. The total carpark accommodation planned is 1100 spaces of which 825 will be within a structured carpark with balance on-grade.
