PORT BONYTHON JETTY WORKS

The Principal invites tenders for the supply & installation of Capstan Winches at Breasting Dolphins 1-4 at Port Bonython Jetty. Background: Port Bonython Jetty (Jetty) was completed in 1983 is a major liquids terminal for South Australia located at Point Lowly. it is 2.4km long & is owned by the State. The Jetty is leased to Santos, who own & operate the pipe work & loading facilities to export LPG (butane & propane), crude oil & naphtha. Approximately 25-30 Santos ships use this liquids terminal per year. From early/mid 2016 the number of ships is expected to increase (to 30-35 per year) as the development of diesel import facilities by Port Bonython Fuels is near completion. A detailed condition assessment has identified that the breasting dolphins winches (part of the mooring system) used during the berthing of vessels) are in a very poor condition & need to be replaced. The winch at BD2 has been recently refurbished & reinstalled. DPTI is now looking at removing all 4 existing breasting dolphins capstan winches & replacing them with new assemblies equivalent in parameters to the existing ones.
