THE PARAFIELD & BROADMEADOWS RAILWAY STATIONS UPGRADE
Kings Rd, Parafield & Tisbury St, Davoren Park, Gawler, SA 5118 Has The Parafield & Broadmeadows Railway Stations Upgrade currently at Construction stage. As part of Public Transport Services (PTS) commitment to providing accessible public transport, two stations have been identified for upgrades to meet access requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act. The sites where upgrade works are to be undertaken are Parafield Station and Broadmeadows Station. Both stations are located on the Gawler line. Parafield station consists of two side platforms. The western (down) platform is an earth filled island platform with bituminous surfacing, located between ARTC and PTS (AMPRN) tracks. Access is via a ramp and automated pedestrian crossing on the northern end. The eastern (up) platform has been partly upgraded previously and consists of a side platform with concrete surfacing. Access is via a northern and a central ramp with the northern ramp connecting to the automated pedestrian crossing. Broadmeadows station is an earth filled island platform with concrete edges and capped with bituminous surfacing, currently with ramps and pedestrian crossings at each end. The railway right of way is a nominated specialised work location and safety of railway operations is of paramount importance. The contractor shall undertake the works in such a manner so as to not impede, obstruct or interfere in any manner whatsoever with Railway Infrastructure. The contractor shall perform all work outlined below in accordance with the contract and any other works outlined in the specifications and on the drawings which includes: demolition and earthworks required for platform modification works, including: removal and disposal of fill material including contaminated materials, removal and disposal of bitumen surfacing, footings and crossings as required, removal and disposal of shelters, lighting, platform furniture, signage and all other redundant infrastructure as required to complete the works, removal and disposal of fencing, disconnection of electrical and communications infrastructure, return of any infrastructure listed for salvage to PTS depot & all other work specified in the specifications and on the drawings; Reconstruction of the platform including: concrete works including edging, footings, pedestrian crossings and platform topping slabs, supply and install TGSIs, pit & conduit installation and modification, including spare conduits (as outlined in the drawings), drainage, including under track, pipe work connections, pits, grates, gutters & downpipes, off platform works and all other associated works, footings for platform furniture, light poles, illuminated signage, timetables mirrors and shelters, raise existing pits and install new pits to meet new finished platform level flush with platform surface & earthing and bonding of platform infrastructure and concrete reinforcement and associated work in preparation for the future electrification of the Gawler Railway Line; manufacture and installation of new shelters; plumbing connection and installation of water points; supply and install all new station furniture, including on walkways, outside of the shelter (seating, lean rails and bins) including footings; reconstruct ramps, access paths and pedestrian crossings in accordance with the drawings including concrete maze slabs, TGSIs, fencing, handrails and kerbs (or kerb rails) as required, walkways across tracks, access paths between ramps and pedestrian crossings & smooth transition to adjoining surfaces; supply and install all new signage & supply and install Alpolic (Di Bond) shelter signage including back lighting; install all pits and conduits required to complete all electrical & comms works including future works and additional spare conduits in accordance with the drawings, install all conduits including spares to the shelter, light poles, signs and pits & raise existing pits flush with surrounding surface; supply Click for more details...

GLENGOWRIE TRAM DEPOT ELECTRICAL WORKS
Glengowrie Tram Depot Electrical Works is currently at the Construction stage, valued at about $ 300000 it is Background: The overhead system in Glengowrie depot is divided into electrical sections. To facilitate the maintenance of trams these electrical sections can be turned off individually, whilst the power to the remainder of the depot is maintained. To improve the flexibility of the depot, it is proposed to introduce additional electrical sectioning. Purpose: For the purposes of this tender, Design & Construct includes design, supply, installation, construction, testing, commissioning & handover. Existing Arrangement: The current switching arrangements allow for the following scenarios: (a) Open switches on Pole GD2, removes power to the whole depot. (b) Open switch on Pole GD22, removes power to the south end of the depot. (c) Open switch (with Earthed Position) on Pole GD16, removes power & earths Road 4 in the Tram Barn. (d) Open switch (with Earthed Position) on Pole GD10, removes power & earths Road 1 in the Tram Barn. (e) Open switch (with Earthed Position) on Pole GD10, removes power & earths Road 2 in the Tram Barn. Proposed Arrangement: Supplied Drawing TP2-DRG-000076 schematically demonstrates the required modifications, which are: (a) The Tenderer is to design & install a new earthed position switch around the existing section insulator to be mounted on GD18. (b) The new switch on GD18 needs position detection to operate the existing traffic lights for South Yard. (c) Redundant switch & position detection on GD22 needs to be removed. Inside the Tram Barn: (a) Install two new section insulators on Road 1 & Road 2 in the centre of the Tram Barn. (b) Install 2 new earthed switches to feed the new subsections created to the south end of Road 1 & 2 in the Tram Barn. (c) Switches to be located in convenient locations for maintenance staff. (d) Feeding from switches to newly created sections is to be via suitably insulated cables routed through roof of the Tram Barn. (e) Four new traffic lights to be installed in the roof of the Tram Barn to provide staff indications on the state of the trolley wire. (f) Interlocking system to be fitted to new switches to interface with the existing interlocking system to allow access to associated overhead platforms. (g) Switches to be fitted with detection to operate relevant traffic lights to show status of overhead trolley wire. (h) All earthed switches to be suitably bonded to the rail. (i) Modifications necessary to interface switches with the current interlocking system should not require a change in the current interlocking process. (j) The lens on traffic lights (existing & new) should have the road number & section on it (e.g. 1C). NOTE: The feeding of the South Yard is through cables with 400mm2 cross sections. The tenderer is to confirm that 107 mm2 Overhead Wires would not be overloaded if used on their own to feed the south yard. No changes to current track layout are permitted.
