The 2 storey, split level Cancer Care Centre will provide radiotherapy treatment through 2 ground level bunkers & chemotherapy through level 1 treatment bays. The building will also accommodate consulting rooms, staff areas, patient entry, waiting area, cafe & courtyard. The Patient and Carers? Accommodation Unit will be provided on the eastern half of the site, fronting the park, 10 double rooms will provide accommodation for 32 people, with some rooms interconnected for family use. The proposed built form will represent a series of small scaled modulated forms within a landscape setting. The proposal includes the Cancer Care Centre located towards the corner of Scenic Dr & North St and the Patient & Carers? Accommodation Unit towards the eastern boundary looking over Nowra Park. The buildings will be connected by landscape, pedestrian and at-grade parking areas and a dedicated pedestrian link along the eastern boundary of the site. The Cancer Care Centre will be a 2 storey building, level 0 will contain the service area & ambulance bay as well as the loading area, plant space and storage, & lobby with lift; level 1 will be the primary entry, with a lobby, cafe & reception/office space; 2 wings will extend from the lobby and focus around a central courtyard area, eastern wing is for radiotherapy treatment & includes 2 treatment bunkers, consultation rooms, staff facilities, western wing will contain clinical and office spaces. The Patient and Carer Accommodation Unit at the SCCC will provide overnight accommodation for patients receiving treatment within the SCCC and their carers. The Patient and Carers? Accommodation Unit will be provided on the eastern half of the site, fronting the park. Sixteen double rooms will provide accommodation for 32 people, with some rooms interconnected for family use. The Patient and Carers? Accommodation Unit will be supported by a communal dining/lounge area & staff areas. Concrete precast panel walls, timber batten facade panels, lightweight steel framed window boxes, painted fibre cement sheet, anodised aluminium window frames,aluminium fixed louvres, viridian laminated glass, barestone fibre cement, plywood panelling to entry soffit & foyer, zincalume roofing, thick reinforced concrete walls, roof & slab for bunkers.
