Contract Package 1 involves the construction of a new multi-storey carpark with 675 carparking spaces and a new bus bay at Taronga Zoo, Sydney NSW. The Outer Plaza Precinct provides for: The formal entrance for those arriving by car, taxi or bus; Public and Staff Car Parking and Coach parking; STA bus drop-off and turn around. In general the Works involve the following elements: Car Park Structure: The concrete structure is designed as a concrete split level car park for maximum efficiency, to suit the grades of the site and to minimise excavation. The car park is screened on its perimeter to blend into the landscape. Screening is of plantation treated timber poles arranged vertically and designed to weather and gently blend with the native landscape. A pedestrian ramp links southern levels of the structure to the entry pathway to the Zoo through the landscape. The car parking structure will be naturally ventilated. This dictates the building?s narrow footprint. Vehicular entry to and exit from the proposed parking structure is from Bradley?s Head Road controlled by boom gates. Staff Car Park Zoological Parks Board of NSW; Staff will access a dedicated staff car park area via the current staff parking access at Whiting Beach Road. The staff parking area, which is bitumen surfaced at grade, is sited at the northern end of the site fronting Whiting Beach Road. The existing berm and planting along Whiting Beach Road is to be maintained and extended with additional planting proposed between the road and the proposed parking structure. Coach Parking: Coach parking is sited in the location of the existing asphaltic concrete surface of the existing staff car park. It is accessed from Whiting Beach Road. Line marking and bollards will control movement of coaches and people. A stepped pathway from the coach parking area alongside the southern side of the parking structure provides a second route for large school groups to access the Education Centre or return more directly to their waiting coaches. Bus Drop Off & Turn around and Lay By; STA bus drop off and pick up spaces, with provision of STA layover spaces are to be provided. The bus and coach drop off and turning circle are accommodated along the western boundary of Bradley?s Head Road allowing for the creation of a pedestrian only plaza to the north of the Upper Entrance Building. Coaches will set down at the drop off area and proceed to the dedicated coach parking area off Whiting Beach Road (within the current staff parking area). A dedicated drop off is also provided for minibuses, taxis and cars; An additional bus lay-by and drop off is located on the eastern side of Bradley?s Head Road. Guard Kiosk, Car Park Pay Station and Bus Shelter; Floors are generally concrete slab on ground; The general structure consists of steel beams and columns; Exterior cladding is clear finished timber boarding, in horizontal and vertical formats as shown with painted steel parapet capping; The roofing consists of colorbond ribbed steel sheeting over steel purlins with box gutters; Aluminium framed windows, doors and fixed glazing; Guard Kiosk Toilet has ceramic tile floor finishes. The toilet corridors paving match that of the exterior landscape. Generally the offices area will have vinyl flooring; Suspended ceilings consist of clear finished timber boarding to exterior soffits and suspended plasterboard interior ceilings; Entry door to the Pay Station will be timber framed and timber clad. Interior doors are solid core timber doors; Prefinished steel Roller Shutters will be provided to the Pay Station openings; Fixed joinery fitout to office areas; Boom Gates to the Guard Kiosk Entrance to Staff and Coach Parking Areas. QUEEN ELIZABETH II MEDICAL CENTRE - MULTI-DECK CARPARK

The new car park will be centrally located north of the proposed New Children's Hospital & close to the main entrance of the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. It will contain approx 3,550 new bays. It is estimated that approx 1,150 at-grade car parks across the site will remain available once all Master Plan projects have been completed including approx 150 undercroft bays that will be constructed as part of the New Cancer Centre. The 7 storey carparking facility would likely also comprise a pedestrian bridge which allows access to the lifts & stairs, public toilets, attendants office, commercial space, childcare & medisuites.
