Designed to be impenetrable, bullet and bomb proof, self sufficient with reserves of water for keeping equipment cool and power supply. Total floorspace 11,796sq m. The data centre will comprise 3 components: bladerooms (data halls), plant rooms & technical space, as well as switchrooms to house electricity supply. The bladerooms are climate controlled computer containers accessible to customers, external ambient air will be used to cool the computers whenever outside conditions are satisfactory. 10 blade rooms are proposed, arranged in pairs & installed over 2 levels in the 2 western buildings & on a single level in the eastern building. Each pair of bladerooms measure 46m x 32m. The bladerooms are finished in powdercoated metal cladding with 2m aluminium louvres to screen the roof plants. The rooms are prefabricated off site with integrated services for electrical cables, fibre optic reticulation & airconditioning. A total of 16 plant rooms are proposed on the southern portion of the site, each group of 5 plant rooms is associated with a block of bladerooms.
