ULAN COAL OPERATIONS - CONVEYORS

RAVENSTHORPE NICKEL PROJECT - TREATMENT PLANT PACKAGES
A project in the WA Within Ravensthorpe. Processing includes a combination of pressure acid leach (PAL), atmospheric leach (AL) and Enhanced Pressure Acid Leach (EPAL). The EPAL process entails separate mining, stockpiling and beneficiation of Ilmonite ( high iron, low magnesium and calcium, upper levels) ore. The ilmonite is treated by PAL, whilst the saprolite is treated by AL using the PAL discharge and additional acid. This allows recovery of an additional 15,000 tpa of nickel. The process downstream of the leaching circuit uses the Cawse flowsheet with partial neutralisation, followed by separation of the barrren tailings from the nickel bearing solution, further impurity removal and preciptiation of MHP. This intermediate product is then transported to the QNI Yabulu refinery. Click for more details...

ALCAN GOVE BAUXITE OPERATIONS - REFINERY EXPANSION
A project in the NT Within East Arnhem Shire. Refinery expansion will increase production from a current 2 Mt/y to 3.8Mt/y in 2007. All new process areas will be concrete bunded with sumps installed. Stormwater drainage and utilities will be extended to all new areas and facilities. The existing sewerage treatment facility will be upgraded by the addition of separate reticulation and package sewerage plants. Proposed expansion includes stockpiling and handling. Bauxite will not be exported from Gove anymore but will be directed to the refinery. Stockpile sizes will remain the same, but stacker and feed conveyor systems will be upgraded or replaced and the refinery reclaimer will also be replaced. Three new grinding mills will be installed to replace the old rod and ball mills. One new mill slurry tank and pump transfer system together with one train of indirect mill slurry equipment will be installed. The heated feed will now be processed in a new high temperature double digestion process. A third low temperature digestion plant will be installed, as well as deep-cone thickners and high pressure pumps. The mud and liquor residue will be seperated in pressure decanters and processed through a train of new high rate washers and a single train of five deep cone thickners. The existing washers and thickners will be used for storage of residue liquids. Some will be demolished. Six new vertical pressure filters will be installed in a new security filtation area to process most of the turbid liquor flow from the thickners. Agglomeration precipitators and growth precipitators will be added to increase capacity as well as two interstage cooling facilities will be installed on each growth precipitator train. Flash vessels and a barometric condenser will be installed using cooling water from new cooling towers. A new hydrocyclone classification system with three classification stages allowing three different sized hydrate streams to be produced will be installed. A new filtration area and equipment will be installed to conduct filtration of various hydrate streams. Equipment will include six drum filters, vacum pumps and air blowers. Three new stationary calciners will be installed in conjunction with new hydrate conveyors and upgraded aluminia transfer systems. A new evaporation plant will be installed as well as cooling towers for vapour removal in the last three flash stages. Lime plant capacity will be increased from 140 t/h to 200 t/h by installing a new burner system and modifying the kiln's internal geometry. A new burnt lime storage silo will be installed. The existing power station will be converted from fuel oil to gas that will involve a new boiler and associated turbine units. The neutralisation plant will include a mixing tank and two thickners in a bunded area. New liquor purification plant will be constructed involving two seperate plants for the mixing and drying stage. Click for more details...

PILBARA IRON ORE & INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT - ORE PREPERATION PLANT
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project at Cloud Break Mine Site, Pilbara area via, Newman, WA 6753 for New. Ore Preparation Plant (OPP) is to comprise a crushing and screening operations. The facilities include a screen house, crushers, stockpiles and trainloader. The operation will process ore transported by a conveyor firstly to a portable crusher and sizer located at the operating face of the Cloud Break mine. When the ROM ore has been crushed and sized it will be transported via a conveyor to the screener and crusher. Ore will be sorted into super value fines, high grade fines, high grade lump and lower grade ore. The first three types of ore will be conveyed to the train loading station and shipped to Port Hedland. The low grade will be stockpiled for the future when the Christmas Creek Beneficiation Plant is constructed. Operating facilities at the plant will comprise a Sample Tester, Plant/Workshop store, Communication Tower, High Voltage Switchyard, Sewage Treatment Plant, Potable Water Plant including a Water Tank, Temporary Diesel Power Station, Control Room, Workshops, Laboratories, Amenities area, OPP Administration area including a Store, Laboratory, Emergency Response Centre and Administration building, Mining administration area, Car Parks, two Fuel Farms and a Vehicle Washdown Facility including a washdown slab and an oil separator and automated facilities. A desliming plant will also be constructed. Future expansion of the OPP will include a Desand Plant and associated infrastructure. The developer is currently designing the Desanding plant. IRON ORE RAPID GROWTH 4 PROJECT - NEWMAN HUB
Newman Hub project at Newman Hub, Newman, WA 6753 in the Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling). The RGP4 modifications include the final tie-ins that convert the existing Newman Operations from a production plant producing secondary crushed ore (with a nominal top size of -100mm) to a plant producing shipping quality lump and fines products. The main features of the new tie-in, starting at TS2 are: A new transfer tower, 41SE010, built immediately to the NE of the existing TS2, in line with conveyor M110. This tower is structurally linked to TS2. The tail end of the existing conveyor M110 is removed and replace by a new conveyor. 41CV010, which runs in the opposite direction and discharges ore to a new transfer conveyor, 41CV020, the tail of which is in the new transfer tower 41SE010. Connecting to the existing Newman High Grade (NHG) discharge in TS2 (ore from #2 Plant and Bene Plant product). Construction of a new single rotary cell train car dumping facility, a new crushing and screening plant to include scalping with middlings recirculation to produce sized lump and fines product. Construction of a new blending stockyard 5 x 210kt lump and fines, live and dead including stacking and reclaim machines, to produce a direct-shippable blended lump and fines product. Construction of sampling facilities for reconciliation of production from the various ore sources (NHB and SOB sites) and as-stacked blend control on the stockpiles. Construction of a new drive through train loading (TLO) facility with separate lump and fines sections. Modifications and additional track at the entrance of Newman Hub rail loop and new loco services facility near the existing Hub workshops. Modifications and additional tracks and realingments in the vicinity of the existing OB29 train loading facility for connections to new car dumper and train loading facility. These works include the additional SOBs train by pass line. Deconstruction of PB29 conveyors M301, M309, M311 transfer station TS3, part deconstruction M308 and the removal of the entire OB29 train Load-out facility. The deconstruction works also include removal of sections of existing rail line made redundant by the Newman Hub works. Decommissioning of the existing train load-out stackers No 1 & 2, stacker conveyors M110 and M6 and the existing train loading tunnels (demolition not included in the RGP4 scope). The proposed Caval Ridge CHPP will have a nominal feed capacity of 2 000 t/h and is capable of processing 14-16 Mt/a to produce a nominal 8 Mt/a of hard coking coal, 5.5 Mt/a of which will be sourced from the Caval Ridge Mine & the balance to come by conveyor from the expanded Peak Downs mine. The facility shall operate seven days per week on a continuous basis. The CHPP will consist of: ROM dump hopper for primary sizing; secondary and tertiary sizers with intermediate screening; raw coal stockpiles with mechanised stacking and reclaim facilities; 2 module coal preparation plant, nominally 1000 tph, per module; product coal stockpiles with mechanised stacking and reclaim facilities; train loadout to the north of the Peak Downs Highway, a conveyor will transport material crossing the highway; reject bin and handling system and ultrafine tailings dewatering system. Water supply to be a combination of site water reuse & a raw water supply via a new off take pipeline from existing bulk pipelines. Process plant water will be recycled to minimise raw water make-up requirements for the site.
