HUNTER VALLEY COAL OPERATIONS
Product Coal Feed Bin project at Lemington Rd, Lemington, NSW 2330 In The Council Area Of Singleton of Private. Coal and Allied Operations Pty Ltd operates open cut coal mines and coal preparation plants in the Hunter Valley at Mount Thorley, Hunter Valley Operations (Howick, Hunter Valley and Lemington), Warkworth, Ravensworth and Bengalla Mines. Coal and Allied is interested in receiving Expressions of Interest from companies that can provide professional services for the staged design and construction of a product coal feed bin at the Hunter Valley Operations Load Point. Stage 1 will include site investigation, conceptual design and budget preparation. Stage 2 will encompass design and construction for the completion of the works. all works will comply to stringent Coal & Allied safety standards. It is envisaged that the design process will be highly consultative iwth existing operations, with a key element of the work being the minimisation of disruptions to current train loading facilities during construction. It is envisaged that conceptual works and budget preparation be completed by 1 December 2001 with final works completed (pending internal finanical approval) by the third quarter of 2002. DIRECT REDUCED IRON (DRI)/HOT BRIQUETTED IRON (HBI) PLANT

This project Overland/tunnel conveyor will transport ore from Finucane Island to the DRI Plant, approximately 7.5 km southwest of Port Hedland and then return the hot briquetted iron product back to Finucane Island for export. RAVENSTHORPE NICKEL PROJECT - TREATMENT PLANT PACKAGES
A project in the WA Within Ravensthorpe. Processing includes a combination of pressure acid leach (PAL), atmospheric leach (AL) and Enhanced Pressure Acid Leach (EPAL). The EPAL process entails separate mining, stockpiling and beneficiation of Ilmonite ( high iron, low magnesium and calcium, upper levels) ore. The ilmonite is treated by PAL, whilst the saprolite is treated by AL using the PAL discharge and additional acid. This allows recovery of an additional 15,000 tpa of nickel. The process downstream of the leaching circuit uses the Cawse flowsheet with partial neutralisation, followed by separation of the barrren tailings from the nickel bearing solution, further impurity removal and preciptiation of MHP. This intermediate product is then transported to the QNI Yabulu refinery. Click for more details...

DALRYMPLE BAY COAL TERMINAL - FURTHER EXPANSION

First phase will take capacity to 68 million tonnes by July 2007. More specifically work onshore will involve a new out loading conveyor system from the stockyard feeding to a new surge bin and sample plant complex (surge bin 3). This will feed to a new shuttling head conveyor that can feed either of the two existing jetty conveyors and a third future conveyor. Offshore work involves a new conveyor L15 gallery structure, a 10 metre widening of the existing jetty by addition of a third pile and an extension of the existing steel headstock at each bent. A new access roadway in between conveyors L5 and L15 to provide maintenance access to L15. An extension of existing conveyor L17 tail. A new drive tower and transfer tower at the head of L15, supported upon a piled platform that will also provide for roadway access to this area and relocated transformers. IRON ORE RAPID GROWTH PROJECT 3 - PORT INFRASTRUCTURE
At, Finucane Island, WA 6721 Has Iron Ore Rapid Growth Project 3 - Port Infrastructure currently at Construction stage. Development comprises construction a new single stockyard row in area S, the Eastern Yard including a new stacker and new reclaimer. Constructing a new dedicated Return Screened Fines stockpile adjacent to Car Dumper 4 including new stacker and new reclaimer. Joining the existing Berths C & D together to allow existing shiploaders SLO3 and SLO4 to access either berth. Modifications to the long travel of shiploaders SLO3 and SLO4 so they can travel and shipload on Berth C and D. Upgrading and rebuilding the existing Berth C to accommodate shiploader SLO4 and 250,000 DWT vessels, modify the exisitng control system to suit the new operating regime, improve dust control measures, upgrade electrical infrastructure to suit the proposed development, upgrade the exisiting general infrastructure including upgrading a warhouse building , upgrading roads and constructing a new water recovery plant. The existing existing environmental berm will be extend to provide a visual buffer to the town of Port Hedland on the other side of the harbour from the new eastern stockyard. Construction of temporary lay down areas and buildings for the contractors and temporary construction offices for BHP and EPCM staff. DAMPIER IRON ORE PORT UPGRADE PROJECT
Port Expansion Phase B New project In The City Of Karratha Council Area. Expansion of port capacity from 116 Mtpa to 140 Mtpa of iron ore. Presently construction works for the previous expansion to 95 Mtpa will be completed by December 2005. A proposal to expand to 120 Mtpa is before State Government authorities at present but does not involve any new construction, only utilising existing infrastructure at Parker Point. Expansion to 140 Mtpa will involve significant new construction work. Development options include upgrading the Parker Point and East Intercourse Island operations and the development of a new greenfields site. WORSLEY ALUMINA EXPANSION EFFICIENCY & GROWTH PROJECT
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project In The Collie Council Area of Mine Expansion/Refinery - Upgrade type. Development comprises two parts. Expansion of the existing bauxite mining activities and an upgrade of the refinery. Mining will expand into the Saddleback, Marradong, Hotham North, East Quindanning, Morgans, Hotham North Extension, Central and Brookton mining envelopes. Throughput will expand to 16.5 Mtpa. The expansion of mining activities will involve the addition of three new primary crushers and a new crushed ore stockpile will be needed next to the existing secondary crusher to provide extra surge material to feed the overland bauxite conveyor. Additional conveyors include a 34 km extension from the Hotham North mining envelope which will cross both the Albany Highway and the Wandering-North Bannister road, a 16 Km spur from the south east of the Central mining envelope to the Luptons mining envelope and lastly a 28 Km extension from the Central mining envelope to the Brookton mining envelope. Additional bauxite conveyors spurs and haul truck transport may be needed in the future. Refinery expansion will involve an increase in the Bauxite stockpile of 0.5 Mt. At the Milling and Digestion plant an additional mill, an additional desilication tank and eight new slurry heaters will be required. At the Seperation plant, an extension of the residue washing tanks and an expansion of capacity of the causticiser circuit. At the Calcination plant an additional gas fired calciner with bag house with a new hydrate filtration building. As part of a plan to increase Rio Tinto's overall Pilbara operational capacity to 330million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), a project to increase the Cape Lambert Port iron ore handling, processing & ship loading capacity through construction in 2 stages of new stockyard & port facilities of up to 100Mtpa capacity to the west of the existing 80Mtpa Port A operations. IRON ORE RAPID GROWTH 4 PROJECT - TRAIN LOAD OUT
Iron Ore Rapid Growth 4 Project - Train Load Out is currently at the Planning stage, valued at about $ 100000000 it is The new TLO facility will match the existing train load-out plant for through train capacity at 58Mtpa. The new TLO will comprise a new section of rail passing through a single tunnel that has two loading vaults. Each vault is located under a discrete stockpile, each with a minimum 25,000 live capacity. These stockpiles will be product specific, one for lump and one for fines, to eliminate product cross-contamination. Each stockpile will be built and maintained by a fixed stacker conveyor, fed from the diverter transfer station at the head of the stockyard reclaim conveyor (the transfer station and stacker conveyors are part of work pack 4N0). The conveyors will discharge from fixed cantilever booms. Dust suppression sprays will be mounted at the head of each conveyor discharge. The spray system will be complete with break tank and pumps for the high pressure for the spray canon. The TLO will have dedicated dust extraction/collection and ventilation systems for each of the vaults. Each of the dust systems will comprise dust hoods, ducting, wet scrubbers, extraction fans, seal tank, circulation pumps, sump tanks, pumps and associated pipe work. The complete tunnel with the vaults will have a vault ventilation system complete with fans, ducting, discharge registers and intake silencers. The stockpiles and stacker conveyors will have dust suppression sprays. Process water will be supplied for dust suppression and dust extraction scrubbers. A project to create a mining complex incorporating neighbouring open cut & underground operations at Ravensworth West, Narama and Cumnock No 1 Colliery & the surface facilities associated with Ravensworth Underground Mine (RUM) for mining up to 16million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of Run-Of-Mine (ROM) coal over an expected Life-of-mine (LOM) of 29 years. Establishment south of Davis Creek & west of Bayswater Creek of the new Ravensworth North Pit. Open cut operations to continue to involve prestripping, drill & blast overburden removal, coal extraction through blasting or bulldozer, transportation of the ROM coal by truck to stockpiles & then by conveyor to a local power station (Macquarie Generation) or the Ravensworth Coal Terminal (RCT). Expansion of the product coal capacity of the existing northerly Ravensworth Coal Handling & Preparation Plant (RCHPP) & RCT loadout facility to 20Mtpa. A new Raw Coal stockpile with associated conveyor & access bridge over the New England Highway to the RCT. At this coal terminal a new product coal stockpile as well as a water dam. A new rejects bin at the existing centrally located ROM pad along with new conveyor to link to the existing rejects conveyor. Establishment of new workshop & office facilities north of Davis Creek. Realignment of an existing 330kV transmission line & ancillary services. Construction of a mine access road along with realignment of Lemington Road involving a New England Highway intersection upgrade. A new explosives facility. Diversion of Emu Creek. A new main storage dam in the south of the project area with associated drains & pipelines. Expanded out of pit emplacement areas. New Cumnock 3 tailings dam to the south of the existing dams. DAMPIER IRON ORE PORT OPERATIONS - PARKER POINT UPGRADE
A project in the WA Within City Of Karratha. A project which is part of Rio Tinto's Growth Program to increase its Pilbara ore handling capacity to 330million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). Upgrade of its Parker Point facility at Dampier Port by 5Mtpa to give an overall 230Mtpa capacity. To include 2 new conyeyors including transfer stations with shuttle heads as well as 2 new surge bins with hydraulically driven belt feeders. During a pause to change a ship's hatch, fine ore to be continuously fed by an existing conveyor to a surge bin & then loaded rapidly afterwards. NAMMULDI-SILVERGRASS IRON ORE OPERATIONS EXPANSION (NBWT)
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project at 60km northwest of, Tom Price, WA 6751 for New. A project to extend open cut mining below the water table. Widening & deepening of existing pits concurrently at Nammuldi (Marra Mamba Pits A-F) & Silvergrass (Valley, Range & Flats Marra Mamba pits) which will require new permanent out-of-pit waste dump areas. Dewatering by in & out of pit bores at a maximum rate of 138ML/day at Nammuldi & 90ML/day at Silvergrass with water to be used in operations (processing, dust suppression, crib rooms, ablutions), piped to Brockman Syncline 4 mine, local agricultural irrigation or discharged into Duck or Caves Creeks. Ore to be transported by conveyor to one of 2 new wet processing plants with a combined capacity of 45 million tonne per annum (Mtpa). Overland pipelines to take plant waste fines to a new storage facility to be constructed north of Nammuldi. Construction also north of Nammuldi of a new rail loop & stockyards to link to the existing Brockman 2 spur for export through either Cape Lambert or Dampier. Associated infrastructure to include explosives storage, workshops (fabrication, heavy vehicle maintenance), offices, packaged water treatment plants, lay down areas, warehousing, a fuel storage tank with refuelling aprons & a concrete batching plant during construction. New 33kV power lines to be connected to the existing system. Construction also of a sealed access road to provide an all-weather traffic route from Tom Price to Silvergrass via Brockman 2 & Nammuldi. Realignment of 2.5km of Caves Creek's main channel. Accommodation options include use of expanded facilities at Brockman Syncline 4 mine or a new camp at Western Ridge or next to the existing Brockman 2/Nammuldi camp. Click for more details...
