IRON ORE PROCESSING PROJECT
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) New project at Finucane Island to, Port Hedland, WA 6721. This type is Cross Harbour Tunnel/Conveyor - Design & Construction with Private ownership. Construction of a tunnel & conveyor belt under the Port Hedland Harbour to cart ore from the Nelson Point project to stockpiles on Finucane Island. The project involves boring a 1,160 m long concrete-lined tunnel under the harbour. Approximately 600 m of the tunnel will be under the sea bed. The 4.3 m wide bore will house a 1.8 m wide conveyor initially capable of moving 4,000 tonnes of lump ore per hour (full capacity of 10,000 tph). From mid 1997, the Finucane end of the conveyor will link with an overland conveyor to feed iron ore to the proposed $900 million HBI plant to be located on the Boodarie site approximately 7.2 km south of Finucane Island. The tunnel will contain an accessway and services such as lighting, drainage, ventilation and fire protection. To minimise the risk of airborne dust arising from the handling process, the facility will include water sprays and the tunnels entry portals will be covered. A 20 month construction schedule is envisaged, with the main tunnelling process expected to be undertaken during winter 1996. It will be constructed using a purpose-built Earth Pressure Balanced tunnel boring machine and supported with bolted pre-cast reinforced concrete segments. It will commence near Utah Point, just south of the Finucane Island berth and emerge behind the Nelson Point A berth. The conveyor will then be fitted and linked to existing loading conveyors and expected to be operational by February 1997. The sub-sea tunnel will serve to increase the capacity of the Nelson Point loading facility by carrying ore to the Finucane shiploader, as well as directly supplying fine iron ore from Nelson Point to the DRI/HBI plant at Boodarie. INDEE GOLD PROJECT - HEAP LEACH PLANT

RAVENSTHORPE NICKEL PROJECT - TREATMENT PLANT PACKAGES
A project in the WA Within Ravensthorpe. Processing includes a combination of pressure acid leach (PAL), atmospheric leach (AL) and Enhanced Pressure Acid Leach (EPAL). The EPAL process entails separate mining, stockpiling and beneficiation of Ilmonite ( high iron, low magnesium and calcium, upper levels) ore. The ilmonite is treated by PAL, whilst the saprolite is treated by AL using the PAL discharge and additional acid. This allows recovery of an additional 15,000 tpa of nickel. The process downstream of the leaching circuit uses the Cawse flowsheet with partial neutralisation, followed by separation of the barrren tailings from the nickel bearing solution, further impurity removal and preciptiation of MHP. PILBARA IRON ORE & INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT - PORT HEDLAND PORT FACILITIES
Currently at the Construction stage In Port Hedland is a project estimated to be $ 689700000. This project Port facilities comprise a stockyard at 2.5 Mt capacity. Materials handling facility comprising a Train unloader, 22 Conveyors and transfer points, Rescreening plant , two Stackers (8000 tph each), a Reclaimer (10,000 tph), two 300,000 tonne stock piles and a bulk stockpile area. The Materials handling facility will use a rotary car dumping cell to simultaneously tip two ore carriages. Iron ore from each wagon will be dumped into individual surge hoppers and then onto conveyors located at the base of the structure which will deliver the ore through an upward sloping tunnel to the nearby stockpiling area. In order to house the the Train Loader a 22 metre high concrete vault will be constructed to allow ore carriages to be tipped in an efficient manner. Extensive excavation work will be required because approxiamtely 18 metres is below existing ground surface. An associated ramp and conveyor system will be constructed. During excavation construction a significant ammount of dewatering will be required. Port development will include a proposed 750m long single wharf, a Shiploader (10,000 tph), 3.3 million cubic metres of dredging with ongoing maintenance dredging, shipping berth to allow for two 250,000 DWT vessels to be berthed. One berth includes wharf and shiploader. The other includes a berth only. WAROONA MINERAL SANDS PROJECT - RESOURCE
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project for New development. Current mineable reserve is approx 8.4 million tonnes with an average grade of 10.2% heavy mineral. The mine will process 2,600,000 tonnes of ore per annum. Major work will comprise stripping of the overburden, upgrading and relocation of a wet concentrator plant and nfrastructure. Development will comprise topsoil stripping, overburden removal, installation of drainage and noise bunds, hauls roads, offices, workshops, construction of a clean water dam and associated infrastructure. Development comprises construction a new single stockyard row in area S, the Eastern Yard including a new stacker and new reclaimer. Constructing a new dedicated Return Screened Fines stockpile adjacent to Car Dumper 4 including new stacker and new reclaimer. Joining the existing Berths C & D together to allow existing shiploaders SLO3 and SLO4 to access either berth. Modifications to the long travel of shiploaders SLO3 and SLO4 so they can travel and shipload on Berth C and D. Upgrading and rebuilding the existing Berth C to accommodate shiploader SLO4 and 250,000 DWT vessels, modify the exisitng control system to suit the new operating regime, improve dust control measures, upgrade electrical infrastructure to suit the proposed development, upgrade the exisiting general infrastructure including upgrading a warhouse building , upgrading roads and constructing a new water recovery plant. The existing existing environmental berm will be extend to provide a visual buffer to the town of Port Hedland on the other side of the harbour from the new eastern stockyard. Construction of temporary lay down areas and buildings for the contractors and temporary construction offices for BHP and EPCM staff. DAMPIER IRON ORE PORT UPGRADE PROJECT
Port Expansion Phase B New project In The City Of Karratha Council Area. Expansion of port capacity from 116 Mtpa to 140 Mtpa of iron ore. Presently construction works for the previous expansion to 95 Mtpa will be completed by December 2005. A proposal to expand to 120 Mtpa is before State Government authorities at present but does not involve any new construction, only utilising existing infrastructure at Parker Point. WORSLEY ALUMINA EXPANSION EFFICIENCY & GROWTH PROJECT
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project In The Collie Council Area of Mine Expansion/Refinery - Upgrade type. Development comprises two parts. Expansion of the existing bauxite mining activities and an upgrade of the refinery. Mining will expand into the Saddleback, Marradong, Hotham North, East Quindanning, Morgans, Hotham North Extension, Central and Brookton mining envelopes. Throughput will expand to 16.5 Mtpa. The expansion of mining activities will involve the addition of three new primary crushers and a new crushed ore stockpile will be needed next to the existing secondary crusher to provide extra surge material to feed the overland bauxite conveyor. Additional conveyors include a 34 km extension from the Hotham North mining envelope which will cross both the Albany Highway and the Wandering-North Bannister road, a 16 Km spur from the south east of the Central mining envelope to the Luptons mining envelope and lastly a 28 Km extension from the Central mining envelope to the Brookton mining envelope. Additional bauxite conveyors spurs and haul truck transport may be needed in the future. Refinery expansion will involve an increase in the Bauxite stockpile of 0.5 Mt. At the Milling and Digestion plant an additional mill, an additional desilication tank and eight new slurry heaters will be required. At the Seperation plant, an extension of the residue washing tanks and an expansion of capacity of the causticiser circuit. At the Calcination plant an additional gas fired calciner with bag house with a new hydrate filtration building. PILBARA IRON ORE & INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT - ORE PREPERATION PLANT
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project at Cloud Break Mine Site, Pilbara area via, Newman, WA 6753 for New. Ore Preparation Plant (OPP) is to comprise a crushing and screening operations. The facilities include a screen house, crushers, stockpiles and trainloader. The operation will process ore transported by a conveyor firstly to a portable crusher and sizer located at the operating face of the Cloud Break mine. When the ROM ore has been crushed and sized it will be transported via a conveyor to the screener and crusher. Ore will be sorted into super value fines, high grade fines, high grade lump and lower grade ore. The first three types of ore will be conveyed to the train loading station and shipped to Port Hedland. The low grade will be stockpiled for the future when the Christmas Creek Beneficiation Plant is constructed. Operating facilities at the plant will comprise a Sample Tester, Plant/Workshop store, Communication Tower, High Voltage Switchyard, Sewage Treatment Plant, Potable Water Plant including a Water Tank, Temporary Diesel Power Station, Control Room, Workshops, Laboratories, Amenities area, OPP Administration area including a Store, Laboratory, Emergency Response Centre and Administration building, Mining administration area, Car Parks, two Fuel Farms and a Vehicle Washdown Facility including a washdown slab and an oil separator and automated facilities. CLOVERDALE MINERAL SANDS PROJECT - RESOURCE
Resource - Mineral Sands project at 6Km South South East of, Capel, WA 6271 In The Council Area Of Capel of Private. Resource estimate is 3.5 million tonnes @ 18% heavy mineral sands. Heavy Mineral Concentrate production will occur at 450,000 tonnes per year. Mining will be carried out by scrapers or truck and shovel excavating the ore and hauling it to the in pit hopper. The ore will be conveyed from the Hopper to the existing wet screening plant at Yoganup West and the concentrator at Yoganup. After processing the ore will be transported by truck to Capel for further processing. The mine will use the existing infrastructure at Yoganup and only an earthmoving contractors area will be installed at the mine site. IRON ORE RAPID GROWTH 4 PROJECT - NEWMAN HUB
Newman Hub project at Newman Hub, Newman, WA 6753 in the Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling). The RGP4 modifications include the final tie-ins that convert the existing Newman Operations from a production plant producing secondary crushed ore (with a nominal top size of -100mm) to a plant producing shipping quality lump and fines products. The main features of the new tie-in, starting at TS2 are: A new transfer tower, 41SE010, built immediately to the NE of the existing TS2, in line with conveyor M110. This tower is structurally linked to TS2. The tail end of the existing conveyor M110 is removed and replace by a new conveyor. 41CV010, which runs in the opposite direction and discharges ore to a new transfer conveyor, 41CV020, the tail of which is in the new transfer tower 41SE010. Connecting to the existing Newman High Grade (NHG) discharge in TS2 (ore from #2 Plant and Bene Plant product). Construction of a new single rotary cell train car dumping facility, a new crushing and screening plant to include scalping with middlings recirculation to produce sized lump and fines product. Construction of a new blending stockyard 5 x 210kt lump and fines, live and dead including stacking and reclaim machines, to produce a direct-shippable blended lump and fines product. Construction of sampling facilities for reconciliation of production from the various ore sources (NHB and SOB sites) and as-stacked blend control on the stockpiles. Construction of a new drive through train loading (TLO) facility with separate lump and fines sections. Modifications and additional track at the entrance of Newman Hub rail loop and new loco services facility near the existing Hub workshops. Modifications and additional tracks and realingments in the vicinity of the existing OB29 train loading facility for connections to new car dumper and train loading facility. These works include the additional SOBs train by pass line. Deconstruction of PB29 conveyors M301, M309, M311 transfer station TS3, part deconstruction M308 and the removal of the entire OB29 train Load-out facility. The deconstruction works also include removal of sections of existing rail line made redundant by the Newman Hub works. Decommissioning of the existing train load-out stackers No 1 & 2, stacker conveyors M110 and M6 and the existing train loading tunnels (demolition not included in the RGP4 scope). IRON ORE PAID GROWTH 4 PROJECT - CAR DUMPER WORK PACKAGE 4N08
Mining - Infrastructure (Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers, Materials handling) project at Newman Hub, Newman, WA 6753 for New. A new single rotating cell car dumper located inside of the main rail loop, north of the existing OB29 TLO. A trade approved train weighbridge will be installed on both sides of the Car Dumper. There is a receival hopper complete with an apron feeder 51FE010 below the car dumper. The feeder discharges to a reclaim conveyor that lifts the ore to the surface. The reclaim conveyor 51CV010 discharges to the surge stockpile stacker conveyor 51CV020. The surge stockpile stacker conveyor also received ore from the supply conveyor 41CV030 from the NHG/Bene supply. Thus, all the ore sources are discharged to the surge stockpile together. There is sample extraction at the head of the car dumper conveyor which includes a sample cutter, apron feeder and primary increment crusher (SPB lump size being too big to be handled by a modular sample station). The sample extraction will be linked to a new sample stations. The car dumper has dedicated dust extraction/scrubber and ventilation systems comprising ducting, fans, scrubbers and pumps. The key criteria for the Car Dumper and discharge are 27Mtpa, discharge rate is 6,500tph. Samples will be taken on a time based system. A lot is defined as one shuttle load. The final sample collection will be in buckets on carousels containing approximately 7.5kg per lot. The sample station will have divisions down to quaternary cutting for chemical sampling. Metallurgical samples can be collected as and when required. The sample station is of a single modular design similar to those for as stacked sampling. The key criteria for the SOB Sample Station has a design capacity of 27Mtpa. Surge Stockpile will receive ore from NHG No 2 Plant, the Bene Plant and the SOB Car Dumper. The stockpile comprises one pile, with a live capacity of 15,000 ton minimum. There is gravity reclaim from the stockpile through two draw-down hopper openings in the roof of the reclaim ton. The hoppers are each located over an apron feeder that discharges to the plant feed conveyor 51CV020. The stockpile live volumne and feeder capacities are sized to produce a smooth head feed to the screening/crushing process plant. There are dust suppression cannon around the stockpile as well as dust suppression sprays at the head of the stacking conveyor. The screening facility comprises two buildings located in close proximity (one bay apart). The first building consists of five scalping screen bays that are fed by a continuously traveling shuttle head conveyor. The second building consists of seven product screen bays that are fed by a continuously traveling tripper. Iron Ore Rapid Growth 4 Project - Train Load Out is currently at the Planning stage, valued at about $ 100000000 it is The new TLO facility will match the existing train load-out plant for through train capacity at 58Mtpa. The new TLO will comprise a new section of rail passing through a single tunnel that has two loading vaults. Each vault is located under a discrete stockpile, each with a minimum 25,000 live capacity. These stockpiles will be product specific, one for lump and one for fines, to eliminate product cross-contamination. Each stockpile will be built and maintained by a fixed stacker conveyor, fed from the diverter transfer station at the head of the stockyard reclaim conveyor (the transfer station and stacker conveyors are part of work pack 4N0). The conveyors will discharge from fixed cantilever booms. Dust suppression sprays will be mounted at the head of each conveyor discharge. The spray system will be complete with break tank and pumps for the high pressure for the spray canon. The TLO will have dedicated dust extraction/collection and ventilation systems for each of the vaults. Each of the dust systems will comprise dust hoods, ducting, wet scrubbers, extraction fans, seal tank, circulation pumps, sump tanks, pumps and associated pipe work. The complete tunnel with the vaults will have a vault ventilation system complete with fans, ducting, discharge registers and intake silencers. The stockpiles and stacker conveyors will have dust suppression sprays. Process water will be supplied for dust suppression and dust extraction scrubbers.
