MANNUM CONCRETE FERRY RAMP REFURBISHMENT

As the concrete ferry ramps are in excess of fifty years of age, some are in need of repair to keep them operational. The ramps have deteriorated due to dry back of the river bank during low water flows in the last drought. The concrete deteriorating with some sections showing exposed reinforcement. The reinforcement is also showing signs of corrosion which has accelerated concrete fractures. Design & construct a floating walkway including abutment, restraint piles & floatation modules. Scope of work includes: widening the space for the car-trailer turning area at the head of the ramp. Addition a 2.5m wide floating walkway support lane without destabilising the slope stability of the downstream side batter. Installation of a new heavy duty floating walkway without compromising the number of lanes; due to the likelihood of high flood velocities it is anticipated at least five piles including an end pile may be required in this location. Necessary modifications to the kerbs and traffic islands.
