PORT HUGHES BOAT RAMP REDEVELOPMENT
Sections 1895 & 1894, Port Hughes, SA 5558 Has Port Hughes Boat Ramp Redevelopment currently at Construction stage. The Principal invites tenders for the provision of Design & Construction. The Principal has been working with a community steering party with regards to the upgrade of the Port Hughes boat ramp since 2008. The steering party settled on a design that would balance the requirement of the community for increased all weather access & the impact of the surrounding environment & the associate sand movement. The Principal with require construction services for the redevelopment of the Port Hughes Boat Ramp with consideration given to the approved plan. Council will be looking for tenderers to input their skills & knowledge by providing non-conforming alternative where appropriate, with particular attention given to the construction methods for the wharf area & the boat fender. Other items of note include, but are not limited to : a) The Port Hughes Boat Ramp is restricted by a number of factors including geological rock formations & sand movement to its current footprint. The aim of this project is to maximise the available manoeuvring area & throughput & therefore increase the utilisation & capacity of the facility. b) The wharf area (which is also the dredging vehicle access) should have a vertical wall, with suitably spaced boat stops (fenders) & recessed ladders. The ultimate final design of this should consider wave reflection & pricing should be presented in a way that allows flexibility with its overall length & therefore allowing the project to be completed within its defined budget. Note: the aim of this is to keep the wharf area approximately 250mm above the average high tide level, acknowledging that in winter storms it may be topped & the last 30m forming a ramp for excavator / truck access to the mouth of the harbour. c) Details on construction methods & the length of time where the facility will be unavailable for public use should be considered & documents as part of tender submissions. PIRIE RIVER CIVIL WORKS
Civil Engineering (Docks & piers, wharves, boat ramps) project at Pirie River, Port Pirie, SA 5540 for New. The Principal invites tenders from Tenderers for the dredging of Pirie River & construction of a rock wall. This request for tender is for all works, reasonably expected & required, to complete the design, approvals & construction for the elements identified above in accordance with guidelines & specifications included within the supplied documentation. 1) There is an area identified for dredging from the end of the launching ramp to the northern end of Fisherman's jetty. The estimated volume of material to be dredged within this area is 5,500m3 which would provide a water depth of 1.5 metres at zero tidal datum, this will ensure larger vessels such as the SES & commercial fishing boats will have sufficient depth of water to launch even at low tide. 2) Construction of a rock wall will be required to provide for placement & storage of the dredged material between the existing boat ramp & the John Pirie Bridge. Once the dredged material has been placed in this area with adequate capping the final height is intended to be 3.0 metres AHD. This is slightly below the walkway on the north side of the boat ramp car park area. 3) The reclaimed area will be landscaped with a new picnic shelter & furniture proposed to be installed. 4) In order to further enhance the boat launching facilities, it is proposed to construct a proper rigging area for easier manoeuvring for boat users. The proposed location of this area is on the western side of the boat ramp area. The area will need to be raised to the specific height & retained with rock protection. 5) It is also proposed to increase the capacity of the boat launching facilities by constructing an additional ramp. 6) In order to provide better connection to the water, it is proposed to construct a 2m wide timber boardwalk along the concrete levee for approximately 100m. PORT BONYTHON JETTY WORKS
Capstan Winches - Supply/Install (4) project at off Port Bonython Rd, Whyalla, SA 5600 In The Council Area Of Whyalla of State. The Principal invites tenders for the supply & installation of Capstan Winches at Breasting Dolphins 1-4 at Port Bonython Jetty. Background: Port Bonython Jetty (Jetty) was completed in 1983 is a major liquids terminal for South Australia located at Point Lowly. it is 2.4km long & is owned by the State. The Jetty is leased to Santos, who own & operate the pipe work & loading facilities to export LPG (butane & propane), crude oil & naphtha. Approximately 25-30 Santos ships use this liquids terminal per year. From early/mid 2016 the number of ships is expected to increase (to 30-35 per year) as the development of diesel import facilities by Port Bonython Fuels is near completion. A detailed condition assessment has identified that the breasting dolphins winches (part of the mooring system) used during the berthing of vessels) are in a very poor condition & need to be replaced. The winch at BD2 has been recently refurbished & reinstalled. DPTI is now looking at removing all 4 existing breasting dolphins capstan winches & replacing them with new assemblies equivalent in parameters to the existing ones. The recently refurbished winch assembly will be kept on site as a backup. Click for more details...

MARINA EAST BOARDWALK REPLACEMENT
Civil Engineering (Docks & piers, wharves, boat ramps) New project at 30 Colley Tce, Glenelg East, SA 5045. This type is Boardwalk - Design/Construct with Local Govt ownership. The Principal invites tenders for a replacement boardwalk for the Marina East Apartment Building, Glenelg. Background The City of Holdfast Bay is the owner of the timber boardwalk that surrounds the Marina East Building within the Holdfast Shores complex. The construction of the boardwalk was completed in the 2001/2002 financial year & is predominantly used for pedestrian access. The timber boardwalk surrounds the Marina East building to the West & North, with small part located to the South. The boardwalk provides an access point to the Patawalonga Lake barrage gates & adds to the aesthetics of the area. The area of the boardwalk under consideration has been divided into three sections. Area 1: Location - South / West, Dimensions (m) - 6 x 13, Area (m2) - 78; Area 2: Location - West, Dimension (m) - 105 x 4, Area (m2) 420; Area 3: Location - North, Dimension (m) - 12 x 22, Area (m2) 264 - Total Area (m2) = 762. Please note that the location of each area is with respect to the Marina East Building & all dimensions are approximate. The walkway West of Marina East is supported on a steel sheet pile retaining wall & Marina East building. The walkway to the North of Marina East is supported on piles independent of the existing concrete retaining wall. The current timber boardwalk comprises of hardwood planks which are bolted to timber joists that rest on timber bearers. The timber bearers rest between the building & the retaining wall or on the concrete slab itself. Timber balustrades are present along the edge of the boardwalk & approximately 20pct of the boardwalk lies above the water. Please note that this design may not be consistent throughout the entire boardwalk. The timber boardwalk has been subject to white ant damage & exposed to a marine environment, which has led to its deterioration. Please note that a detailed inspection of the area has not been undertaken by Council. As a result, the extent of white ant damage is not known & the design of the substructure beneath the boardwalk is not certain. Council requires a proposal to strengthen / replace the Marina East boardwalk so it is fit for purpose & has the capacity to carry the required loads. The Council?s preference is to strengthen the boardwalk rather than replace. Problem definition: The boardwalk surrounding the building comprises of two different thicknesses of timber. The timber size & grade in the Northern side (area 3) is unknown, whereas the Western side (areas 1 & 2) comprises of 200 wide x 100 deep F27 Blackbutt. It should be noted that part of the Northern boardwalk, separate to areas 1, 2 & 3, was replaced with 190 x 45 F27 Blackbutt in 2014. The Western boardwalk (areas 1 & 2) is required to handle the load of a cherry picker (used for building maintenance) & the load of a fire vehicle. Due to the thickness of timber used on the Northern boardwalk (area 3), it does not have the capacity to carry any substantial load & is restricted to pedestrian use only. Documents were found regarding the initial design of the Western boardwalk. It stipulates that The walkway provides emergency service vehicle access (fire) along the West side of Marina East to both the marina & the building. The type of appliance that the boardwalk was initially designed for consisted of an International Skyjet 6 x 4 with a weight of 13.5 tonne. Discussions were held with a representative from the MFS in relation to fire access onto the Marina. They outlined that there are now no appliances in their fleet that weigh less than 15 tonne. Therefore, it?s unlikely for a fire truck to access the boardwalk in an event of a fire due to the capacity of both the Western & Northern boardwalks. The representative also provided details regarding the type of vehicle that wo Click for more details...
