LA TROBE UNIVERSITY BIOSCIENCES RESEARCH CENTRE
New project of Industrial (High technology parks) project at Ring Road b/wn Main Rd & College Dv, Bundoora, VIC 3083. Currently the site is Carpark P4 at the University. The Biosciences Research Centre will be a major new research facility for agricultural biosciences and will leverage Victoria's current competitive bioscience and biotechnology advantage to create a national and international scientific research hub. The Biosciences Research Centre will undertake plant, animal and microbial bioscience and bioprotection research and diagnostics; focus on new generation biosciences research on threats to Victoria's agricultural exports such as climate change and biosecurity preparedness; improve research and development programs and services; facilitating the development of new generation crops and animals focused on drought tolerance and bioenergy; focusing research in the areas of animal health and genomics, plant health and genomics and climate change. The functional areas will include laboratories, glasshouses, animal holding areas, administration and office areas, reception and visitor areas, auditorium, data centre, meeting and seminar facilities.
