Construction comprises three main elements. The first is the extension of the Tea Gardens Industrial Estate, the second is the new Waste Transfer Station, and the third is the preparation of the new works depot site. The Tea Gardens Industrial Estate involves the extension of one road (Winta Rd) & the construction of another (Transfer Rd) & the creation of 12 industrial subdivision lots (four to be constructed fully with the remaining eight to be constructed to the extent that the continued operation of the existing Council?s Works Depot is not affected). Supporting works includes, but is not limited to: construction of a large open stormwater drainage line; construction of a vacuum sewerage system; extension to the water reticulation supply; extension to the electricity supply & extension to the telecommunications network. Construction of a resource recovery & waste transfer station. The facility will involve the separation of waste into segregated areas for sale, collection for recycling or disposal on the Tuncurry landfill site. The proposed development involves clearing of native vegetation & deviation of a natural waterway. Waste intended for landfill will be compacted & placed in sealed bins. The facility will collect & separate putrescible waste from households, recyclable materials, green waste, scrap metal, construction waste, hazardous goods & medical waste. A tip shop building of 30m x 20m will be established for collection of goods suitable for resale. Reinforced concrete walls, structural steel frame & roof. Bio-retention management system, effluent management system, bitumen flush seal or asphalt to prescribed areas, perimeter fence, compact road base for roadways, parking areas, waste bins & site.
