RAVENSTHORPE NICKEL PROJECT - TREATMENT PLANT PACKAGES
A project in the WA Within Ravensthorpe. Processing includes a combination of pressure acid leach (PAL), atmospheric leach (AL) and Enhanced Pressure Acid Leach (EPAL). The EPAL process entails separate mining, stockpiling and beneficiation of Ilmonite ( high iron, low magnesium and calcium, upper levels) ore. The ilmonite is treated by PAL, whilst the saprolite is treated by AL using the PAL discharge and additional acid. This allows recovery of an additional 15,000 tpa of nickel. The process downstream of the leaching circuit uses the Cawse flowsheet with partial neutralisation, followed by separation of the barrren tailings from the nickel bearing solution, further impurity removal and preciptiation of MHP.
