Construction of a state of the art cancer research facility on the upper campus area of the Kensington Campus, adjacent to the existing UNSW biomedical research facilities and in close proximity to the Prince of Wales and Sydney Children's Hospitals. The new building will enable the childhood cancer research activities of the Children's Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA) and the adult cancer research activities of the UNSW Faculty of Medicine (FoM) to come together under one roof. UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY - YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FACILTY (BMRI)
A project in the NSW Within Sydney. The proposal comprises the partial demolition of the existing carpark building (Building I) fronting Church Street, retention of existing heritage façade and some side walls and the construction of a 4 level building fronting Church Street for use as a research and medical facility. The new facility is to be occupied by the "Youth Mental Health Facility", to be operated by the Brain Mind Research Institute. The new facility is situated within the complex of existing University of Sydney buildings on this Campus currently known as Buildings A to G. The building form comprises a rectilinear grid and effectively comprises a "box" of 4 levels with a plant room at roof level. The ground floor layout provides for the pedestrian and vehicular entries off Church Street, and accommodates car parking and loading/unloading areas. The remainder of the ground floor is allocated to clinical services and some storage, laboratory support services and ancillary plant and stairs. Construction of a new science research & education facility at the Camperdown campus to house the Australian Institute for Nanoscience, located immediately behind & to the south of the existing School of Physics. The Australian Institute of Nanoscience (AIN) will be a world leading research and teaching facility with facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The project involves: Demolition of a small number of siteworks & structures across the site; earthworks & site service installation. Construction of the AIN Building comprising a single 4 storey building with 2 wings with a total GFA of 11,600sq m, which is integrated with the existing heritage building.
