Classrooms/Library/Theatre - Conversion From Warehouse - 5 Storey project at 22-24 City Rd, Chippendale, NSW 2008 In The Council Area Of Sydney of Private. Conversion of existing 5 storey former Grace Bros warehouse building for the Instituto Cervantes. The development will house language classrooms, multimedia rooms, library, exhibition space & 120 seat state of the art theatre. Ancillary office space. Project will comprise change of use to a language school and cultural centre, application for a Place of Public Entertainment (POPE) licence, and internal alterations. The proposed school and cultural centre will be known as the 'Instituto Cervantes' and proposes 353 students/visitors, 47 staff. a POPE licence for 146 people, and alterations including the addition of an auditorium, a library, exhibition and function space, classrooms and office space. The proposed works comprise the following: Ground floor (reception): new bollards; removal of the internal partition walls to open up the lift lobby into a reception and waiting area; and new steel staircase up to the fourth level of the building which will be separated from the foyer by a fire rated door. Level 1 (auditorium and function space): new 125 seat auditorium plus storage room, speaker's platform and an audio-visual room; demolition of the existing shower room and tea room; and retention of the existing ceiling, lighting and floor coverings. Level 3 (student learning space): 7 classrooms; notice boards to be attached to the wall; 15 student lockers; and feature wall with coat hooks in four of the classrooms. Level 4 (student learning space): removal of the existing reception fitout and the office partitions; insertion of a staircase; partitions for f4 classrooms, plus a meeting room, media room and storage area. Partial redevelopment of the COFA campus. It is proposed to demolish 3 of the existing buildings (known as Buildings C (South), B and D) and make significant alterations to a fourth (Building F). A larger building is proposed to replace Building D in the western portion of the campus. Proposed alterations to Building F include the inclusion of a new Ivan Dougherty art gallery and café at street level. An additional floor is also proposed which will accommodate art studios. Proposed Building D will incorporate workshop rooms, teaching spaces and a number of art studios. Significant internal landscaping is also proposed to enable internal access to campus buildings. Building F comprises level 1: double storey foyer that leads to the lower gallery and upstairs to the main gallery, lower gallery is connected to basement level of Building D; new loading dock accessed from Greens Road to service the café, as well as an art lift & a public lift to service the rest of the building; new café & gallery storerooms; level 2: second level of new gallery and associated administration and plant facilities; level 3: refine layout to incorporate new studios, seminar room and print studio; level 4: refine layout to incorporate new studios and seminar room; level 5: partial enclosure of existing terraces; level 6: (new floor) new studio spaces and post graduate research; upgrading of existing façades. New building D comprises level 1: workshop areas, including connection to basement parking and lower gallery in Building F, plant facilities; level 2 : student & administration facilities, with access to central courtyard; level 3: sculpture studios and object design studios; level 4: studio and teaching spaces, audio visual & media facilities; level 5: research facilities. Paving and landscape treatment to entrance court & paving, sculpture plinths, seating and planter bed walls, staircase link to upper courtyard to central court. Sculptural wall and balustrade, sculpture plinths and seating walls, suspended walkway structure to level 3. Proposed Building D will comprise approx 3,840sq m of floorspace over 5 levels.
