OAK PARK PROJECT - GAS RESOURCE
New project of Mining (Onshore - oil & gas) project at 19km south of, Bacchus Marsh, VIC 3340. The pilot project comprises five wells into the Maddingley Brown Coal Seam (approx 17 metres thick). Includes four wells 300 metres apart surrounding a central well. Pumping of water from the central well is in progress, with reconfiguration of electrical and mechanical services in progress at the end of the September 2003 quarter to enable simultaneous pumping at optimal rates from each of the five wells. This should enable higher water production form each of the five wells, thus accelerating the onset of possible gas desorption. Click for more details...

MELBOURNE TROUGH COALBED METHANE GAS PROJECT - COBBLEDICK/POINT COOK/PORTHEATH
Mining (Onshore - oil & gas) New project at 18km south of Bacchus Marsh, Oak Park, VIC 3046. This type is Resource - Coalbed Methane Gas with Private ownership. The Victorian Department of Natural Resources and Environment has granted the necessary approval for Eastern Star Gas to commence its 5 well coalbed methane pilot production trial in the Melbourne Trough brown coals. The planned Oak Park pilot production trial is designed to test whether the Maddingly seam in EL 4507 is capable of producing significant volumes of gas at commercially viable rates. Wells will be drilled into the target seam on each corner of a 300m by 300m square, with a fifth well drilled in the centre of the square. An electric submersible pump will be installed in each well and operated continuously for an initial six month period with the aim of preferentially de-watering the area surrounding the central well. Water production and any gas production will be monitored regularly during the initial six month pilot production trial. Click for more details...

MEGASCOLIDES 1 - NARRACAN TROUGH - GAS RESOURCE

This type is Resource - Coalbed Methane Gas with Private ownership. 2D sesmic survey will explore the Crayfish group level oil play to provide suitable areas for drilling in 2006. The Narracan trough is a black seam extending from near Warragul south to Coal Creek at Korumburra and to Wonthaggi. Megascolides 1 well is expected to be gas charged with CBM targets from 700 to 1100 metres and the conventional gas targets at depths of 1700 metres. Click for more details...

OTWAY BASIN PILOT PROJECT - PILOT PLANT
Mining (Onshore - oil & gas) project at 2 km west of, Curdie Vale, VIC 3268 for New. The CO2 source for the project will be natural gas with a high CO2 content. The CO2 will be separated and compressed, transported by pipeline and then selectively injected into storage horizons potentially ranging in depth from below 1000 metres to almost 2000 metres. Extensive modelling and monitoring programmes will be a major part of this project, to ensure that the movement of CO2 can be predicted and to assess different monitoring technologies.
