HOPE HOSTEL
Hope Hostel is currently at the Construction stage, valued at about $ 6674000 it is Demolition of existing 2 storey hostel known as 'Hope Hostel'. Construction of a new hostel comprising of 2 x 3 storey buildings described as Block A & B. The new Hope Hostel will provide temporary accommodation including meals and ongoing support services for the treatment and rehabilitation to homeless, drug dependent and/or mentally ill people before occupants are expected to return to everyday life. Block A is located to the north and Block B is located to the south of the site. Block B consists of a 3 storey building that will accommodate patients in need of medical attention and the first stage of rehabilitation. Block B will comprise at ground floor: foyer area and counter located to the front of the building directly accessible from the front entry; office rooms available for counselling services and case workers; general office; toilets including a disabled toilet; a clinic area including 6 intoxicated persons' protocol beds (IPP) to enable in-patients to receive emergency accommodation after 8.00pm; staff lunch room; communal lounge; kitchen and kitchen store; outside BBQ area; external drying area. The first and second floor plan of Block B are emulated and each contain 12 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms including 2 disabled bathrooms, a seating and TV area, laundry and storeroom. Stair and lift access is available from the basement and ground floor to access each of the upper floors. Block A is a 3 storey building designed to be able to provide medium-term accommodation in conjunction with close case management and supervision for the more affected and/or vulnerable people and couples/families in crisis. Each floor contains 3 units including 2 x 1 bedroom units and 1 x 2 bedroom unit with individual north-facing courtyards and balconies. The occupants of Block A will be able to access the facilities located Block B including the communal lounge and dining area for meals and relaxation. The basement carpark will contain 13 car spaces including 2 disabled car spaces, laundry and storage bays. Lift and stair access is provided between the basement car park and each floor of the hospital building.
