UTS STUDENT ACCOMMODATION PROJECT - BUILDING 6 - PETER JOHNSON BUILDING
J/V - Private & Govt ownership Education (Tertiary - colleges, institutes, universities) project In The Sydney Council Area for New development. The University of Technology is aiming to increase its student accommodation by an additional minimum of 1100 beds. Construction of a 13 storey tower building above the existing 7 storey building comprising student accommodation, education and ancillary retail uses. The proposal involves modifying and extending the existing Peter Johnson Building by infilling the existing podium with additional teaching spaces & a cafe & construction of a new 13 storey tower for student housing. Project will comprise infilling & extending the existing Peter Johnson building (Building 6) to provide approximately 5,950sq m of additional floor space for teaching space & student housing support services. Construction of a 13 level tower above the existing & infilled building, which will accommodate student housing for 720 students & comprise approximately 19,200sq m of additional floor space within studio, 2 bedroom & 6 bedroom units. Provision of associated recreational & communal spaces at proposed Levels 8 & 21.The current building accommodates academic & teaching spaces over 7 storeys for the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building. As well as student housing, Level 8 will include an apartment for an onsite manager and communal facilities such as laundry, indoor and outdoor recreational space & study areas. Levels 9-20 will comprise only residential accommodation. A common roof top terrace will be provided on Level 21. The proposal incorporates various measures for the development to target the equivalent of a 5 star Green Star rating, assessed in accordance with the pilot tool for multi-residential development. Refurbishment of the University of Technology Sydney 'Great Hall' located in Building 1 including new finishes, services, store room and foyer space. The key element of the design is 'The Mantle', a skin of perforated metal panels which will be grafted onto the existing concrete interior. The panels will conceal upgraded audio-visual and lighting systems, providing a subtle integration of technology. Skylights within The Mantle will draw natural light into the space. A new balcony room with floor to ceiling glass will provide a formal arrival space, overlooking Alumni Green. A project in the NSW Within Ryde. Site preparation works including excavation & road re-alignment. Construction & fitout of he Australian Hearing Hub within the Macquarie University campus, a 6 storey building with approximately 23,182sq m of GFA including laboratories, academic/research & office spaces, wind tunnel & anechoic chambers, lecture theatres, cafe, & service areas. The project predominantly consists of research & academic uses 9,200sq m, 4,330sq m shared space, approx 9,200sq m allocated to university uses, 4,535sq m allocated to government agencies, such as Australian Hearing, & approx 1,340sq m allocated to commercial uses, such as Cochlear & approx 415sq m allocated to not-for-profit organisations. ACADEMY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
44-50 Bay St (level 2), Ultimo, NSW 2007 Has Academy Of Information Technology currently at Construction stage. Use & fitout of level 2 as an educational establishment for 300 students. The floor is currently fitted out for office use & has a raised floor installed above the timber floor leading from reception, with carpet tile finish. The proposal is that the following existing rooms will remain & be adapted for use by the college: 4 meeting rooms, a staff servery/lounge, main reception and 3 other existing rooms. An existing computer room located north of reception with higher raised floor and fire suppression system will be removed and the floor lowered to match the remainder. The remaining area of the floor will be partitioned in order to provide several teaching environments in either a computer laboratory format or lecture theatre format, informal student lounge & study areas. Construction of PlantBank, which will a conservation research & education facility featuring state-of-the art laboratories, research space, multi-sized function rooms, lecture facilities, secure repository for Australian plant species, centre of information & innovative education, & increased capacity for the preserved collections & glasshouses of the NSW Seedbank. The western wing comprises 1 level, & will house the facility's main research functions with laboratories & storage rooms. The proposed Community Engagement & Wellness Centre is on the southern end of the CSU Albury Wodonga (Thurgoona) campus. The centre is to be an on campus clinic that provides the student studying various School of Community Health courses an opportunity to apply their newly developed coursework skills in an authentic clinical work environment dealing with real peoples with real issues. The building has 3 distinct parts to it, a northern administration & staff services zone containing reception, offices, records, copy/utilities & staff amenities. A southern "clinical" wing containing treatment, consultation & procedure rooms with associated stores, staff rooms & utilities. A Central community area between the 2 wings & containing the waiting area, visitor amenities, and the community focused multi-purpose & gymnasium spaces with some associated interview rooms & equipment stores. Ten treatment rooms, 4 consultation rooms, 2 interview rooms, 1 biomechanics/GAIT/Rehab room, 2 multipurpose activity spaces & 1 gymnasium space. The building will incorporate the following energy conservation features: roof & ceiling spaces would be fully insulated to achieve a minimum total R-value of 3.2 External walls will be insulated to a minimum total R-value of 2.8 A concrete floor slab will provide thermal mass to help stabilise internal temperatures. Suspended concrete will be insulated as per BCA requirements. Most external windows will have energy usage types with controls to minimise miss-use. Most roof water will be collected & re-used for toilet flushing & garden watering. Sanitary fixtures will be low water use fixtures & tapware will be reduced flow tapware with controls to minimise wastage.
