Redevelopment of the Darling Walk precinct (former Sega World) into a new retail & commercial area. Construction of an external accessible lift shaft upon the eastern elevation of Pier 4/5 serving the ground, first and mezzanine levels of the Sydney Theatre Company, plus the installation of external handrails and tactile surface indicators. Associated with the lift is an internal pedestrian bridge structure on the first floor mezzanine walkway of the pier & changes to handrails, balustrades & signage around the Hickson Rd access. The lift shaft is designed as a glass enclosed steel framed structure, glazing will be frameless & fixed to the structure with stainless steel standoff bolts. The steel structure will stand on a reinforced concrete base to be impact resistant from passing traffic, reducing the need for bollards. The lift shaft will be supported by new piles below the road level. SCENIC RAILWAY
Scenic Railway - Upgrade project at Cnr Violet St & CLiff Dr, Katoomba, NSW 2780 in the Entertainment (Theatres, Cinemas). Upgrade of the top & bottom platforms of the Scenic World Science railway. Undertake upgrade works at the top & bottom platforms. The top platform is to be extended in width; the upgrade will include a new roof & profile. A new platform & roof are to be added to the western side of the bottom station. A new section of boardwalk will allow visitors to alight from one side of the train carriages & enter from the others. New carriages are to be installed & the mechanisms for driving the railway will be replaced; this includes a new winch mechanism to be installed in the current workshop; to accommodate this the workshop will be extended. Top station - new platform & viewing area; installation of an elevated ramp along an existing access track. The formalisation of the track will involve constructing new footings for the ramp.
