SYDNEY TO MELBOURNE MAIN SOUTH RAIL LINE-RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADE
Rail Line - Upgrade project at Sydney to Melbourne, Sydney, NSW 2000 in the Civil Engineering (Tunnels, Subways). Package 1 to comprise 220 kilometres of new rail track proposed to follow existing track, extensive sleeper replacement & track geometry improvement, project includes existing track & construction of new sections. Details of the works program include: The construction of 16 passing lanes consisting of double track sections of around 10km to 15km of a standard configuration at approx 10 minute running time intervals with around 220kms total length of new line construction; New concrete sleepers on selected curves allowing trains to run at faster speeds. This will involve about 290,000 new sleepers & recanting to maximum superelevation to facilitate maximum train speeds; Ballast top-up & tamping of existing concrete sleepers over 130 kms to achieve maximum train speeds; Boosting capacity to the Dynon/Melbourne precinct by increasing to three the number of bi-direction tracks between Tottenham Junction to Dynon; Construction of a direct standart gauge connection between Brooklyn & Sunshine in Melbourne to provide direct access between the North-South & East-West corridors; and Installation of eight sets of facing cross overs to minimise operational delays during upgrading & future renewal projects. PACIFIC HIGHWAY UPGRADE - TINTENBAR TO EWINGSDALE
Civil Engineering (Tunnels, Subways) New project at Pacific Hwy from Tintenbar to, Ewingsdale, NSW 2481. This type is Roadworks with State ownership. Proposed upgrade of approximately 17 km, starting at Ross Lane in Tintenbar & extending north to the existing Ewingsdale interchange, near the settlement of Ewingsdale. At Ross Lane, the proposed upgrade would connect to the north end of the proposed Ballina bypass. The proposed upgrade includes: Four-lane divided carriageways (2 lanes each way), with a wide median allowing for the future addition of a third lane in each direction. Connection to the northern end of the Ballina bypass at the proposed Ross Lane interchange. A new northbound on-ramp & a new southbound off-ramp would be provided. The remainder of this interchange will be constructed as part of the Ballina bypass project. Upgrading of the existing Ewingsdale interchange to provide full access between the modified local and regional road network & the highway. A half interchange at Ivy Lane. North-facing ramps would provide access between the local road network and the proposed upgraded highway to the north. A half interchange at Bangalow. South-facing ramps would provide access between the local road network, including to Bangalow and Lismore & the proposed upgrade to the south. This arrangement would replicate the arrangement with the existing Bangalow bypass which also has south-facing ramps only. Six twin bridges & 4 underpasses allowing roads and creeks to pass underneath the proposed upgrade. These would include twin bridges above Byron Creek and the existing Casino-Murwillumbah railway on the north side of Byron Creek. Two bridges carrying local roads over the proposed upgrade, one for Broken Head Road and one about 500 m north of Lawlers Lane providing access to several properties east of the upgrade. Protection screens would be provided on both bridges. The existing highway would be retained as a continuous road for local and regional traffic. CITY WEST CABLE TUNNEL
City West Cable Tunnel is currently at the Construction stage, valued at about $ 50000000 it is The proposal involves the construction of an electricity transmission cable tunnel to link the Haymarket bulk supply point in Thomas St, Ultimo, to the new City North substation at the corner of Sussex & Erskine Sts, Sydney; construction of an interface with City Central substation; installation of 5 x electricity transmission feeders to transmit electricity to the City North substation; construction of a permanent tunnel adit (entrance) and ventilation intake at the eastern end of Mary Anne St. The ventilation exhaust works would be integrated with the City North substation building. Construction and Operation of a dual 132kV cable from the Bunnerong Substation to the Kurnell Substation using a combination of trenching, horizontal directional drilling and submarine techniques which comprises the following: Bunnerong to La Perouse: The installation of approximately 3.15km of trenched cable which follows Military Road, Bunnerong Road and Anzac Parade towards La Perouse. National Park at La Perouse: Horizontal directional drilling within the bedrock under the National Park, so as not to disturb the area and emerge in the seabed of Botany Bay. Crossing of Botany Bay: Construction of a submarine cable approximately 2.6km long buried to a depth of between 1.5-3 metres. Silver Beach to Kurnell: Construction of approximately 1.5km of trenched cable emerging at Silver Beach situated outside (but next to) Botany Bay National Park at Kurnell, along Prince Charles Parade, Silver Beach Road and Captain Cook Drive to Kurnell STS. Currently at the Construction stage In Sutherland is a project estimated to be $ 915000. This project Rehabilitation of the Heathcote Engadine & Peppermint Grove tunnels. Scope of Work ? common to both sites - includes but is not necessarily limited to: Site establishment; reinstatement of access tracks if required to provide safe vehicle access; provision of all confined spaces measures including access, ventilation and odour control (if necessary) to facilitate the internal rehabilitation; removal of any silt, fretted rock & debris generated from internal surface preparation and cleaning as well as any existing silt within the area of work; coordination with Sydney Water, any other relevant authorities & the adjoining property owners to arrange access & manage pedestrian movements necessary to implement the rehabilitation & site restoration. Scope of Work ? Heathcote-Engadine Carrier which includes but is not necessarily limited to: Erection of scaffold over Scouts Creek to minimise potential impacts on the creek and to provide safe access for personnel & equipment from the site establishment area to the manhole; coordination with Sydney Water in regard to flow management strategies and wet weather requirements; set-up of a flow management regime to /or internal bypass to deal with incoming flows from the rising main of SP0275 & SP0589; removal of root ingress 9 m downstream of manhole; internal patch repairs of areas with severe deterioration of the 19m of unreinforced concrete lining of the sewer starting from and including the upstream manhole, this includes cleaning & surface preparation of internal concrete & brick surfaces, reinstatement in areas of degradation as required in readiness for application of protective coating system; removal & replacement of cast iron 2 part watertight access covers and cast in frame & removal & replacement of all step irons in upstream manhole. Civil Engineering (Tunnels, Subways) project for New development. Circuit design, manufacture, supply, installation & jointing of 132 kV XLPE cables & ancillary equipment. Scope of work generally involves: installation of a new 132 kV cable circuit between Beaconsfield Bulk Supply Point (BSP) & Belmore Park Zone Substation (ZS); the circuit will be known as Feeder 90Y. Included in the scope of work is the civil, mechanical & electrical design & construction work associated with these circuits, as well as all necessary site investigation along the circuit route to enable the design to be completed. The specified feeder route in the EIA from Belmore Park ZS to Beaconsfield BSP is approximately 5.5km in length & consists of 3 main cable sections. Section 1 - Belmore Park ZS to the shared section of the Metrogrid Tunnel - approximately 800m; this section utilises the City South Cable Tunnel, Haymarket BSP basement and the Metrogrid Tunnel; this section of cable has already been installed as part of a separate project. Section 2 - shared tunnel to Sydney Park tunnel shaft - approximately 3,450m; the second section runs from the shared section of the Metrogrid Tunnel to a proposed joint bay location, on land at the Sydney Park Tunnel shaft via the Metrogrid Cable Tunnel. Section 3 - Sydney Park Tunnel Shaft to Beaconsfield BSP - approximately 1200m; the third section consists of approximately 60m of new trench, one new joint bay & connection into approximately 1000m of spare conduits & joint bays installed as part of a recently constructed project, feeder 9S4 from Sydney Park Tunnel Shaft joint bay to Beaconsfield BSP.
