ALCAN GOVE BAUXITE OPERATIONS - REFINERY EXPANSION - INFRASTRUCTURE
Mining - Civil Services (Waste water/sewerage treatment, sew./waste pipes) New project at Gove Peninsula, North West Arnhem Land via, Nhulunbuy, NT 0880. This type is Infrastructure with Private ownership. Refinery expansion will increase production from a current 2 Mt/y to 3.8Mt/y in 2007. All new process areas will be concrete bunded with sumps installed. Stormwater drainage and utilities will be extended to all new areas and facilities. The existing sewerage treatment facility will be upgraded by the addition of seperate reticulation and package sewerage plants. Proposed expansion includes stockpiling and handling. Bauxite will not be exported from Gove anymore but will be directed to the refinery. Stockpile sizes will remain the same, but stacker and feed conveyor systems will be upgraded or replaced and the refinery reclaimer will also be replaced. Three new grinding mills will be installed to replace the old rod and ball mills. One new mill slurry tank and pump transfer system together with one train of indirect mill slurry equipment will be installed. The heated feed will now be processed in a new high temperature double digestion process. A third low temperature digestion plant will be installed, as well as deep-cone thickners and high pressure pumps. The mud and liquor residue will be seperated in pressure decanters and processed through a train of new high rate washers and a single train of five deep cone thickners. The existing washers and thickners will be used for storage of residue liquids. Some will be demolished. Six new vertical pressure filters will be installed in a new security filtation area to process most of the turbid liquor flow from the thickners. Agglomeration precipitators and growth precipitators will be added to increase capacity as well as two interstage cooling facilities will be installed on each growth precipitator train. Flash vessels and a barometric condenser will be installed using cooling water from new cooling towers. A new hydrocyclone classification system with three classification stages allowing three different sized hydrate streams to be produced will be installed. A new filtration area and equipment will be installed to conduct filtration of various hydrate streams. Equipment will include six drum filters, vacum pumps and air blowers. Three new stationary calciners will be installed in conjunction with new hydrate conveyors and upgraded aluminia transfer systems. A new evaporation plant will be installed as well as cooling towers for vapour removal in the last three flash stages. Lime plant capacity will be increased from 140 t/h to 200 t/h by installing a new burner system and modifying the kiln's internal geometry. A new burnt lime storage silo will be installed. The existing power station will be converted from fuel oil to gas that will involve a new boiler and associated turbine units. The neutralisation plant will include a mixing tank and two thickners in a bunded area. New liquor purification plant will be constructed involving two seperate plants for the mixing and drying stage. Click for more details...

PILBARA IRON ORE & INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT - PORT HEDLAND PORT FACILITIES
Currently at the Construction stage In Port Hedland is a project estimated to be $ 689700000. This project Port facilities comprise a stockyard at 2.5 Mt capacity. Materials handling facility comprising a Train unloader, 22 Conveyors and transfer points, Rescreening plant , two Stackers (8000 tph each), a Reclaimer (10,000 tph), two 300,000 tonne stock piles and a bulk stockpile area. The Materials handling facility will use a rotary car dumping cell to simultaneously tip two ore carriages. Iron ore from each wagon will be dumped into individual surge hoppers and then onto conveyors located at the base of the structure which will deliver the ore through an upward sloping tunnel to the nearby stockpiling area. In order to house the the Train Loader a 22 metre high concrete vault will be constructed to allow ore carriages to be tipped in an efficient manner. Extensive excavation work will be required because approxiamtely 18 metres is below existing ground surface. An associated ramp and conveyor system will be constructed. During excavation construction a significant ammount of dewatering will be required. Port development will include a proposed 750m long single wharf, a Shiploader (10,000 tph), 3.3 million cubic metres of dredging with ongoing maintenance dredging, shipping berth to allow for two 250,000 DWT vessels to be berthed. One berth includes wharf and shiploader. The other includes a berth only. PARDOO IRON ORE PROJECT
Pardoo Iron Ore Project is currently at the Construction stage, valued at about $ 8300000 it is The project is based on an identified iron ore (hematite) resource of approximately 7.4Mt. The project proposes an ore production rate of 1.5 Mtpa, resulting in a mining life of 5 - 6 years. The project involves the open cut mining of eight small pits in five deposits to obtain direct-shipping quality iron ore. The ore will be crushed, screened and stockpiled on site prior to being loaded into rail trains for road haulage to the appropriate berth at Port Hedland. Ore will be stockpiled at the port until it is loaded onto ships for export to overseas customers. The major components of the Pardoo DSO Project are: minesite establishment, mining operations, product transport and export and decommissioning and closure. The minesite access road and temporary construction yard and administration area will be the first infrastructure constructed. The mining operations centre (MOC) will be located in the northern portion of the minesite and contains the following infrastructure: administration area including Atlas facilities, mining contractor's facilities, crushing and screening contractor's facilities, haulage contractors facilities, sewerage treatment and waste water storage, potable water storage, common parking area. The MOC will also contain a fuel storage and refuelling area, power station (diesel), crushing and screening plant, ROM ore pad and product stockpiling area, parking areas and portions of the access road and haul road, and combined contractor's laydown area. Haul roads will be constructed between the pits, waste rock dumps, stockpiles and ROM pad stockpile. Minor access roads will provide access to waste rock dumps and inspection points, dewatering equipment, water management structures, environmental discharge locations and other minesite management areas. The proposed mining operation will be a multiple, open pit mining operation, using conventional drill and blast and load and haul methods. Ore from the pits will be hauled directly to the ROM pad or temporarily stockpiled adjacent to the pits. The crushing and screening plant will provide primary and secondary crushing and screening. MARILLANA CREEK MINE EXPANSION - YANDI - IRON ORE RESOURCE
Resource - Iron Ore project at 90 km north west of, Newman, WA 6753 In The Council Area Of East Pilbara of Private. Total resource body is estimated at 1420 million wet tonnes. Production is expected to increase from an existing 34 Mtpa to 45 Mtpa. Proposal for the expansion include, open cut mining of the overburden and ore, dewatering of the orebody during mining operations. Overburden will be placed in mine voids and out of pit storage areas. Infrastructure for the processing, loading and transportation of ore will be provided by two rail loading stockpiles/loops and railed from site to Port headland for shipping. Supply and distribution of power and raw materials will a be provided by on site diesel generators. Future power demands are expected to be met by the Newman gas fired station via connecting overhead transmission line. A new sewage facility known as Packsaddle Village Sewage Treatment Plant will be constructed. Existing infrastructure facilities at the mine site like main access roads, workshops, administration areas, accommodation village and airstrips will be used. MIDDLEMOUNT COAL OPERATIONS - STAGE 2 EXPANSION

MCARTHUR RIVER BASE METALS OPERATIONS PHASE 3 EXPANSION

A project to extend the existing pit to the east to cover 210ha (1750m x 1500m). Mining to 420m deep should increase mineable reserves from 54 million tonnes (Mt) to 115Mt. Expansion of the current fleet of rope shovels, hydraulic excavators & large haul trucks to increase the mining capacity from 2.5Mtpa to 5.5 Mtpa. Upgrade of the processing plant (expanded crushing facilities, additional grinding mills, flotation cells & thickeners) to produce up to 800,000tpa of bulk zinc/lead concentrate containing 368,000t zinc. New overburden emplacement facilities (OEF) to the east & south of the expanded pit as well as expansion of the existing North OEF from 375ha to 860ha & a height increase from 55m to 80m. A project to develop the existing Moranbah gas field which comprises over 500 production wells & mostly buried gas/water flowlines with compressors leading to water facilities (15 dams, a water treatment facility under construction) & the Moranbah Gas Processing Facility (PL191). Further development to include drilling of 5 exploration wells & 6 appraisal wells with associated water handling systems including flowlines & 5 small (10ML) aggregation dams to store well head water. Drilling also of over 100 fenced, steel & concrete cased production wells each comprising a wellhead, electric drive rotating screw pump, wellhead gas/water separator & control valve as well as monitoring, metering & communications equipment. Typically the wells will be chevron style with surface-to-in-seam horizontal/lateral wells requiring up to 3 pads each but some will be multi-branch lateral wells linked from 2 separate pads. Gathering lines to be buried 53-500mm diameter high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. Associated infrastructure to include access tracks, overhead powerlines (for wellhead & compressor facilities), borrow pits, quarries & storage areas.
