KINGSCOTE COMMUNITY WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM UPGRADE STAGE 2
Currently at the Construction stage In Kangaroo Island is a project estimated to be $ 600000. This project The Principal wishes to replace an existing 200mm concrete Septic Tank Effluent Disposal (STED) that has reached the end of its operational life. The drain runs along Buller St, up Giles St & along Todd St in the township of Kingscote. The drain is in service & must remain operational, as necessary, while a new 150mm PVC drain is installed. Branches of the drain are also planned to be replaced during the project (typically 100mm PVC). It is noted that the drain services approximately 160 connections.
The project is separated into two phases outlined as follows. The first phase shall physically verify the design while the second phase shall consist of all works associated with the construction, testing & commissioning of the works. it is noted that the scope of the second phase is subject to outcomes of the first phase. It is noted that the drain typically services lots on one side of the road only. The Tenderer shall confirm that all such lots are provided with a connection. If it is found that no connection exists, the Tenderer shall construct a connection ensuring maximum serviceability of the allotment with the existing level constraints. Where the new main passes between the existing main & serviced allotments, connections shall typically be picked up as the main is laid. In this situation the drain shall be live & the break-in point to the existing connection shall be as near as practicable to the new main.
Where the new main is beyond the existing main from the serviced allotment, stubs for connection shall be installed as the main is laid with plungers or caps as necessary. The Tenderer shall continue laying the main until the next upstream diversion point. At this stage, the drain shall be pressure tested. When testing has been certified, the existing drain shall be diverted into the new. Connections shall then be completed progressively back down the main. The Tenderer shall allow to regrade connections back to the lot boundary & install a new connection IP in this situation. Where the Tenderer intends to block flow on a live STED approval of Council must first be obtained. The Tenderer shall detail the proposed construction procedure, expected duration, bypass method (if necessary) & safe guards. A rate for reinstatement of the road pavement should be provided allowing to leave the road pavement proud. The Principal will then complete a final trim & spray seal at a later date. Phase 1: Physical Verification:
1) Level survey including invert & NSL of manholes, flushing points, connection inspection openings. 2) Peg alignment on site. 3) Confirm connection locations & mark on adjacent kerb. 4) Locate & mark all underground services & depth any potential clashes (including pothole on existing drain to confirm depth were necessary). 5) Coordinate alignment inspection with Council & Designer. 6) Attend alignment inspection with Council & Designer to confirm alignment. 7) Prepare detailed work method statement, specifically addressing the construction process for all interconnections, & submit for Council & Designer for approval. 8) Maintain establishment for 1 week while any modifications are made to alignment or long sections.
Phase 2: Construction: 9) Construct approved STED Drains as shown on the drawings. Please note: Only the following sections of work will be completed for this stage of the works: a) 150mm dia Gravity Main on Giles St; b) 150 dia Gravity Main on Buller St (East of Giles St: The Tenderer shall supply all materials & equipment required for the tender.

PINDEE STREET DRAINAGE PROJECT
Civil Engineering (Roads, Air runways, Surface car parks, Kerbs, Culverts, Elevated highways) project In The Marion Council Area of Local Govt ownership. No.30 Pindee St, Hallett Cove, is a privately owned allotment straddling the suburb boundary with Marino. The boundary itself traverses a watercourse alignment running through the property. Upstream, the watercourse extends nearly 3 kilometres to the east, resulting in a rather significant stormwater catchment area comprised of quarry & rural space. A combination pipe/culvert collects this runoff on the eastern side of the rail corridor, carries it under the rail corridor & The Cove Road & then discharges in 30 Pindee St. Other minor Council drains collect stormwater run-off from The Cove Road & discharge into Council land/verge abutting 30 Pindee St. Their discharge is uncontrolled & ultimately across the private property of 30 Pindee St, finally reaching the watercourse at the bottom. These smaller pipes are in relatively poor condition, displaying deformation, cracking, joint displacement & prone to blockage.
One of the minor drains comprises of two very shallow side entry pits located in a sag on The Cove Road. The shallow pit depths are a product of the Councils previous efforts to avoid interfering with underground SAPN & APA services. This drain has previously blocked, resulting in street stormwater overtopping the kerb, causing serious undermining of the Council footpath & guardrail, & scouring of the embankment. The other minor drain comprises a side entry pit in Pindee Street discharging its stormwater in to the south end of the Council land via a RIBLOC pipe. This appears to have been installed to intercept stormwater entering Pindee St from the southern approach of The Cove Road. Whilst it would generally be more appropriate to install the side entry pit in the source street, its location suggests that once again the Council selected to take an easier approach to avoid services in The Cove Road. Currently, the stormwater must cross Pindee St in an uncontrolled manner to reach the side entry pit. The owner of 30 Pindee St has attempted to control much of this discharge with the creation of various channels & pipe installations. However, the Council believes it is more appropriate to take responsibility/control to effectively manage this stormwater by way of acquiring an easement & installing new infrastructure. A large culvert crossing the rail corridor & The Cove Road is assumed to be owned by The Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure. The Marion Council will not be touching or interfering with this infrastructure as part of this project.
Like the rail corridor, The Cove Road has been constructed on fill, although it appears likely to be unconsolidated. In more recent years, this section of The Cove Road was subject to a leaking water main, which created massive subterranean voids, ultimately leading to a road collapse. This incident essentially alludes to the conclusion of poorly consolidated fill. The condition of the road & its supporting fill is the principal reason for the Council electing the new infrastructure to take the shortest route through to the watercourse in 30 Pindee St. By doing so, this will essentially minimise our excavation in the road & batter area & hence reduce the risk of de-stabilisation & instability in the embankment.
Council is therefore seeking a suitably qualified Contractor to undertake the necessary works to rectify the situation, as described in the Tender for the Pindee St Stormwater Drainage project.

LEADER STREET STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION
Currently at the Construction stage In Unley is a project estimated to be $ 1000000. This project Works to include a streetscape renewal project. The existing footpaths, road, kerb & water table, & street trees are reaching the end of their useful asset lives. Council is looking to capitalise on this opportunity & undertake a total streetscape renewal project. This will include road & footpath replacement, kerb & footpath realignment & the removal & replacement of street trees. Council is seeking to enhance the presentation of the streetscape, as well as encouraging greater pedestrian & cycle movement along Leader St & connecting with other local networks. Leader St provides important connections between Anzac Highway & Goodwood Rd, Unley Swimming Centre, Forestville Reserve, & the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds.
The scope for this project is approximately 600 m from Anzac Hwy to the railway line adjacent to Nairne Tce. Existing underground stormwater infrastructure discharges flow to Keswick Creek & to Brownhill Creek.
