Construction of an external accessible lift shaft upon the eastern elevation of Pier 4/5 serving the ground, first and mezzanine levels of the Sydney Theatre Company, plus the installation of external handrails and tactile surface indicators. Associated with the lift is an internal pedestrian bridge structure on the first floor mezzanine walkway of the pier & changes to handrails, balustrades & signage around the Hickson Rd access. The lift shaft is designed as a glass enclosed steel framed structure, glazing will be frameless & fixed to the structure with stainless steel standoff bolts. The steel structure will stand on a reinforced concrete base to be impact resistant from passing traffic, reducing the need for bollards.
