ARMOURY WHARF CAFE
A project in the NSW Within Auburn. Construction, fit-out & operation of the Armoury Wharf Care at Blaxland Riverside Park. The proposal is for a new café building generally in the location of former Building 13, in which the previous café was housed. The proposed café building is single storey with a maximum height of 4.2m (to the top of the roof) and 7.2m to the highest point on the chimney element). It provides seating for 98 patrons, comprising 70 seats internally and a further 28 seats outdoors beneath part of the existing shade canopy to the east of the proposed building. A kitchen and servery, back-of-house facilities and male, female and accessible toilets are provided internally. A takeaway counter is also provided adjacent to the waterfront at the front of the building. Back-of-house areas are located generally at the western end of the building and include a garbage storage room which provides storage for 3 bins with external access, cool room and dry store. The proposed chimney provides for kitchen and toilet exhaust above the lower roof line. Hydraulic plant for the water features within the Blaxland Riverside Park are provided within the plant areas to the western end of the building. The building is contemporary in design, materials and detailing. It has been designed to complement and respect the existing buildings and structures in the vicinity and uses similar or complementary materials and colours. Building materials will include a mix of fibre cement and steel wall cladding with aluminium and steel roof cladding. All materials will weather to be non reflective to ensure no negative visual impact. The proposed chimney element will similarly be steel clad to provide a modern industrial interpretation to the building. On the northern elevation, aluminium framed glass sliding doors are proposed to enable the café to open out onto the wharf apron. Fixed glazing will be provided above the doors on this elevation.
