YANDI - IRON ORE

EASTERN GOLDFIELDS - NICKEL/GOLD

ALCAN GOVE BAUXITE OPERATIONS - REFINERY EXPANSION
A project in the NT Within East Arnhem Shire. Refinery expansion will increase production from a current 2 Mt/y to 3.8Mt/y in 2007. All new process areas will be concrete bunded with sumps installed. Stormwater drainage and utilities will be extended to all new areas and facilities. The existing sewerage treatment facility will be upgraded by the addition of separate reticulation and package sewerage plants. Proposed expansion includes stockpiling and handling. Bauxite will not be exported from Gove anymore but will be directed to the refinery. Stockpile sizes will remain the same, but stacker and feed conveyor systems will be upgraded or replaced and the refinery reclaimer will also be replaced. Three new grinding mills will be installed to replace the old rod and ball mills. One new mill slurry tank and pump transfer system together with one train of indirect mill slurry equipment will be installed. The heated feed will now be processed in a new high temperature double digestion process. A third low temperature digestion plant will be installed, as well as deep-cone thickners and high pressure pumps. The mud and liquor residue will be seperated in pressure decanters and processed through a train of new high rate washers and a single train of five deep cone thickners. The existing washers and thickners will be used for storage of residue liquids. Some will be demolished. Six new vertical pressure filters will be installed in a new security filtation area to process most of the turbid liquor flow from the thickners. Agglomeration precipitators and growth precipitators will be added to increase capacity as well as two interstage cooling facilities will be installed on each growth precipitator train. Flash vessels and a barometric condenser will be installed using cooling water from new cooling towers. A new hydrocyclone classification system with three classification stages allowing three different sized hydrate streams to be produced will be installed. A new filtration area and equipment will be installed to conduct filtration of various hydrate streams. Equipment will include six drum filters, vacum pumps and air blowers. Three new stationary calciners will be installed in conjunction with new hydrate conveyors and upgraded aluminia transfer systems. A new evaporation plant will be installed as well as cooling towers for vapour removal in the last three flash stages. Lime plant capacity will be increased from 140 t/h to 200 t/h by installing a new burner system and modifying the kiln's internal geometry. A new burnt lime storage silo will be installed. The existing power station will be converted from fuel oil to gas that will involve a new boiler and associated turbine units. The neutralisation plant will include a mixing tank and two thickners in a bunded area. New liquor purification plant will be constructed involving two seperate plants for the mixing and drying stage. Click for more details...

WAROONA MINERAL SANDS PROJECT - RESOURCE
Mining - Civil Services (Water distribution & pipelines, borefields) project for New development. Current mineable reserve is approx 8.4 million tonnes with an average grade of 10.2% heavy mineral. The mine will process 2,600,000 tonnes of ore per annum. Major work will comprise stripping of the overburden, upgrading and relocation of a wet concentrator plant and nfrastructure. Development will comprise topsoil stripping, overburden removal, installation of drainage and noise bunds, hauls roads, offices, workshops, construction of a clean water dam and associated infrastructure. Associated infrastructure will include in pit hoppers, conveyors, wet screening plant comprising a double deck screen and scrubber, pumps and pipes. TALINGA DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Mining - Civil Services (Waste water/sewerage treatment, sew./waste pipes) project In The Western Downs Regional Council Area of Resource - Coal Seam Gas type. The project involves transitioning the existing pilot trial of 12 wells to production of up to 90TJ/day of coal seam gas, which will contribute to the supply of gas to the Darling Downs Power Station. The development will involve installing coal seam gas wells at a spacing of between 750m and 1000m; associated gas and water gathering systems, a gas plant, a produced water treatment facility, evaporation ponds, offices, storage areas, workshops, camp and gravel pits. Based on current well production predictions, this equates to the installation of approximately 100 coal seam gas wells. This project will incorporate a water treatment facility to significantly reduce the evaporation pond surface area down to approximately 170ha. The water treatment facility will employ an integrated membrane system, including reverse osmosis, to achieve an 85% desalination recovery and create a freshwater resource. The freshwater will be discharged to the Condamine River catchment until higher level beneficial used, such as industrial, urban or agricultural use, can be implemented. Click for more details...

CAVAL RIDGE COAL PROJECT - COAL PREPARATION PLANT & RAIL FACILITIES
Mining - Civil Services (Water distribution & pipelines, borefields) project at 16km south of, Moranbah, QLD 4744 of Coal Preparation Plant/Rail Loadout/Conveyor/Roads type of New development. The proposed Caval Ridge CHPP will have a nominal feed capacity of 2 000 t/h and is capable of processing 14-16 Mt/a to produce a nominal 8 Mt/a of hard coking coal, 5.5 Mt/a of which will be sourced from the Caval Ridge Mine & the balance to come by conveyor from the expanded Peak Downs mine. The facility shall operate seven days per week on a continuous basis. The CHPP will consist of: ROM dump hopper for primary sizing; secondary and tertiary sizers with intermediate screening; raw coal stockpiles with mechanised stacking and reclaim facilities; 2 module coal preparation plant, nominally 1000 tph, per module; product coal stockpiles with mechanised stacking and reclaim facilities; train loadout to the north of the Peak Downs Highway, a conveyor will transport material crossing the highway; reject bin and handling system and ultrafine tailings dewatering system. Water supply to be a combination of site water reuse & a raw water supply via a new off take pipeline from existing bulk pipelines. Process plant water will be recycled to minimise raw water make-up requirements for the site. Private ownership Mining - Civil Services (Waste water/sewerage treatment, sew./waste pipes) project In The Ashburton Council Area for New development. A direct shipping ore (DSO) project based on the 14 million tonnes (Mt) Murray Hill bedded & detrital ore deposit at the Mulga Downs pastoral station. A single, above watertable open pit (2.5km x 1.8km) worked at a rate of 5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) for a life-of-mine (LoM) of 5 years. Conventional drill & blast, excavators & loader methods with ore trucked to a run-of-mine (ROM) stockpile prior to crushing & screening (mobile or modular/skid-mounted plant). Product ore to be trucked along the upgraded, 30km long Fenceline Rd to the Great Northern Highway for haulage 60km to join the proposed Roy Hill Infrastructure Railway by either the Coonarie or Two Camel roads. Associated infrastructure to include waste rock dumps, explosives store, generator power supply with associated double-skinned diesel storage tanks (18 x 110kL) & lined refuelling pads, potable water borefield & turkeys nest storage dam, access roads. A mines operation centre of transportable buildings plus contractor's facilities (offices, amenities, ablutions, fuel storage, refuelling area, heavy & light vehicle workshops, washdown area, laydown areas, parking).
