The main activities associated with the development of the Newcastle Infrastructure Group Coal Export Terminal would include: dredging of three berths in the south arm of the Hunter River to construct a serviceable port for the export of coal; reuse of dredged sands as preload and engineering fill for construction; disposal of unsuitable dredged sediments at sea in accordance with relevant sea dumping permits; construction of wharf facilities and ship loaders; construction of a Coal Storage Area including coal stockpiles, transfer stations, conveyors, stackers and reclaimers; remediation works including capping of selected areas of the existing Kooragang Island Waste Facility for the development of the rail spur and rail loops; construction of a rail spur and two rail loops, road/rail overpasses, unloading stations and connecting conveyors; installation of power supply, reticulation and control systems; development of access roads and internal roads; development of water management infrastructure including site drainage works, collection ponds and stockpile spray system; and construction of administration and workshop buildings.The plant capacity is designed for up to 66Mtpa, and will be built in 3 stages with the initial stage for 33Mtpa. DRAYTON COAL OPERATIONS EXTENSION PROJECT

Mining of an additional resource of 30 million tonnes from the Greta Coal Measures (targeting the Rowan formation) at a rate of up to 8 Mtpa to extend the mine life to 2017. The extension of mining will predominantly progress to the South of current operations; however, additional areas within the North and East of the project area are also proposed to be mined. The project will require some additional items of equipment to accommodate an increased rate of production such as: 1 x excavator, 3 x track dozers, 5 x 280 tonne rear dump trucks, 1 x additional drill, grader and watercart, plus other minor ancillary equipment. The existing Coal Handling Plant (CHP) & associated stockpile reclamation system will be upgraded in order to align the facilities with the proposed increase in annual production. A new 80 000 tonnes product coal stockpile & a 40 000 tonne domestic product coal stockpile are proposed to further assist production efficiencies. Minor changes to Drayton's water management system are also proposed to maximise water management & use at the mine. Drayton will continue to utilise dragline, excavators, loaders and a fleet of trucks to both uncover the coal & transport it to on-site processing and load-out facilities. Blasting will continue to be required to assist with overburden & coal extraction. Drayton will continue to utilise existing infrastructure such as administration offices, workshops, parking facilities, conveyors, coal handling facilities and coal stockpiles. Product coal to travel from the existing coal handling & processing plant (CHPP) by overland conveyor & transfer by a stacker conveyor to a 350,000t clean coal stockpile in the centre of the loop.
