CAIRN HILL MAGNETITE COPPER GOLD PROJECT
Resource - Copper/Gold/Magnetite project at Stuart Highway 55 Km South East of, Coober Pedy, SA 5723 in the Mining - Infrastructure (Roads, Airstrips, Culverts, Retaining walls). Resource of 10.5million tonnes indicated & 4.2million tonnes inferred of ore @ 51.9% Fe, 0.4% Cu, 0.12g/t Au. Phase 1 of the mine operations to consist of 2 open pits located to extract the northern and southern mineralisations. The project will initially involve a trial mining operation to remove and crush 20 000 tonnes of ore in order to refine engineering parameters. The main mining operation will then involve mining of an estimated 7.3 million tonnes of reserves in the western portion of the ML area, using open pit techniques. The project will involve on-site crushing with direct export of ore for processing. The ore will be transported in bulk by road to a proposed new rail siding (the Mast) and then by rail to Darwin for export by ship. Facilities at the site will include a mobile crushing plant, two waste rock dumps, diesel power plant and reverse osmosis plant. Associated infrastructure will include a water supply borefield and a site access/haulage road to the proposed rail siding. Phase 2 will target low copper & sulphur magnetite deposits immediately to the east of Phase 1 activity. Phase 3 involves expansion further east again. Detailed aeromagnetic surveys have identified targets for drilling to identify these easterly deposits. It is hoped these will come into operation when additional port capacity becomes available at Port Bonython or Darwin, leading to operations expanding up to 5Mtpa. Click for more details...

There is a receival hopper complete with an apron feeder 51FE010 below the car dumper. The feeder discharges to a reclaim conveyor that lifts the ore to the surface. The reclaim conveyor 51CV010 discharges to the surge stockpile stacker conveyor 51CV020. The surge stockpile stacker conveyor also received ore from the supply conveyor 41CV030 from the NHG/Bene supply. Thus, all the ore sources are discharged to the surge stockpile together. There is sample extraction at the head of the car dumper conveyor which includes a sample cutter, apron feeder and primary increment crusher (SPB lump size being too big to be handled by a modular sample station). The sample extraction will be linked to a new sample stations. The car dumper has dedicated dust extraction/scrubber and ventilation systems comprising ducting, fans, scrubbers and pumps. The key criteria for the Car Dumper and discharge are 27Mtpa, discharge rate is 6,500tph. Samples will be taken on a time based system. A lot is defined as one shuttle load. The final sample collection will be in buckets on carousels containing approximately 7.5kg per lot. The sample station will have divisions down to quaternary cutting for chemical sampling. Metallurgical samples can be collected as and when required. The sample station is of a single modular design similar to those for as stacked sampling. The stockpile comprises one pile, with a live capacity of 15,000 ton minimum. There is gravity reclaim from the stockpile through two draw-down hopper openings in the roof of the reclaim ton. The hoppers are each located over an apron feeder that discharges to the plant feed conveyor 51CV020. The stockpile live volumne and feeder capacities are sized to produce a smooth head feed to the screening/crushing process plant. There are dust suppression cannon around the stockpile as well as dust suppression sprays at the head of the stacking conveyor. High pressure water for the cannon will come from the stockyard high pressure distribution. The key criteria for the Surge Stockpile is 58Mtpa. Click for more details...

ROY HILL IRON ORE PROJECT - INFRASTRUCTURE - NORTHERN RAIL
Mining - Infrastructure (Roads, Airstrips, Culverts, Retaining walls) project In The Port Hedland Council Area of Private ownership. It is proposed to develop a railway of approximately 320km to transport iron ore from the Roy Hill 1 mine to facilities at Port Hedland and the proposed Boodarie multiuser stockyard area which is to be vested in the PHPA (Port Hedland Port Authority). The railway proposal includes: a marshalling yard (with associated workshops and maintenance facilities storage and laydown areas, rail welding yard), passing loops and sidings, construction water bores and 'turkeys nest' dams, borrow and ballast areas for construction material, communications cable, towers and signalling system, construciton works accommodation camps and amenities for workers, access roads and construction power supplies. Five train sets will be required to transport 55 Mtpa, with each train consisting of two diesel electric locomotives and 232 iron ore wagons. When spares are included, this will entail a fleet of 17 locomotives and 1790 wagons. Fuel supply trains will require one additional AC locomotive and 12 tanker cars. An unsealed, at-grade access road will run adjacent to and generally parallel to the proposed railway for its entire length, for the purposes of railway access and maintenance. The road pavement width will be approximately 9m wide. Seven sidings are expected to be required along the entire length of the railway to allow trains travelling in opposite directions to pass. Additional sidings called "back-tracks" will be provided on the back to eh passing sidings along the alignment as required to allow removal of 'bad-order' wagons (mechanical fault). Road crossings will be at grade or grade separated in accordance with the requirements of Main Roads of Western Australia. Level crossings on access roads will be protected with signs that comply with this standard. To preserve current land uses in a way that is compatible with the proposed railway, fencing and/or controls will need to be installed at occupational rail crossings, vehicle the paths, livestock grids and in other areas where access requires controlling or restricting. Watercourses crossings will consist of culverts or bridges. Culverts will be used in preference to bridges. For bridges, to provide a simple and efficient method of construction, the design of the rail bridges will be standardised for fast construction requiring a minimum quantity of in situ concrete. The span length proposed is 25m. The construction methodology will be to at 25m intervals drive circular steel pier columns as a "trestle" consisting of three members with the two outer members raking and the central pier column vertical. A heavy hardstand granular pavement is required for installation of piled substructure over the full length of each bridge primarily to provide safe, stable access for heavy plant and equipment. The width of the hardstand on both the upstream and downstream sides of the piers will be approximately 20m, ie a total fo 40m wide. Hardstand will remain in service until superstructure units are placed by heavy cranage. Prefabricated steel headstocks will be lifted into place by a crane and site welded to the pier columns. Decks will consist of prefabricated composite girders or steel through girder construction. The marshalling yard will be adjacent to the main line and will incorporate 10 rail tracks. The site is expected to accommodate a rolling-stock workshop and washdown bay, locomotive provisioning hall, rail infrastructure yard, diesel fuel storage, electrical substation, communications tower, administration building, car parks, potable and wastewater treatment units and fire-water storage and access roads. The rolling stock workshop will be a single storey building with a heavy duty concrete slab, overhead travelling cranes, high pressure water wash-down facilities and various pieces of maintenance equipment including a wheel lathe to se Click for more details...
