The proposal includes partial demolition and alterations to the existing Berowra Village Shopping Centre to accommodate a 2,700 (approx) GLFA supermarket, which is proposed to be operated by Coles, shops with a GLFA of approx 1,425 sq m which are located in an internal arcade, with some also having direct access to Turner Rd, with approx 18 shop tenancies (including specialty shops & 1 restaurant). The proposal also includes reconfiguration of the layout of the existing building. The project will also include demolition of the motel component of the Berowra Tavern & swimming pool at the rear as well as the private function building which is presently in the middle of the existing hotel carpark. Partial demolition of the existing hotel & alterations & additions to the remaining building converting it to a more family friendly part 2 storey tavern containing around 610 sq m of licensed area. The tavern is proposed to have a large external courtyard (approx 195 sq m), children's area, gaming room, pool area, bar/lounge area, offices & a smokers' terrace. The first floor will accommodate the caretaker's apartment. There will be a proposed new development on the northeastern corner of the site comprising 420 sq m to be used for shops (restaurant, video store, chemist & optometrist) and 410 sq m for use as a medical centre on the ground floor, the ground floor also proposes an area of outdoor seating suitable for a restaurant.
